An Appeal for Support and Conformation of Adverse Effects

My daughter has lived with ALS like symptoms for almost 3 years. The worst of the symptoms began when her simvastatin was increased to 80mg in 2008.
Her MRIs show LESIONS in the brain stem, specifically in the PONS area of her brain.
Of course, her 4 physicians refuse to believe that statin is involved. They are all satisfied with the diagnosis of “Ataxia”.

My Appeal is to all those who have similar brain lesions as shown and documented in MRIs. Please reply, or contact me directly: Dr Stephen Arvay, stephenx11@cogeco.ca

I quit statins 10 years ago.
I still suffer the side effects.
walking is difficult. Standing for even a short time is difficult.
Exercise will not restore muscles.

I took a statin, and it destroyed my life. I no longer walk over a few steps and only with the help of a cane and a great deal of effort, due to muscle and nerve damage. For outings I must have a wheelchair. I developed many, many other problems in the less than 3 years I was on the statin. I took my last statin pill almost 5 years ago, and have probably reached my "maximum" recovery, which is 100% disabled.
My husband also took a statin, and totally lost his "pizzaz" for life (A dramatic personality change), extreme fatigue, lost muscle mass and had awful memory problems. He was lucky, and has recovered although it took him 4 years to regain his muscle mass, but memory issues still linger.
We were only in our early - mid 40s when all this happened.
After nearly 5 yrs of intense research, I have come to the conclusion that statins are the biggest scam ever unleashed on mankind.
They are worse than worthless...they are dangerous and deadly.
It is my fondest wish to see the FDA and drug companies held accountable for the destruction these drugs have caused, preferably by heavy fines and long prison sentences.

Here are a couple of websites if you really want to know what statins are doing to people:

http://www.spacedoc.net/board/

http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/investigate-statins/signatures.html

P.S. I don't worry about my cholesterol anymore, I worry about surviving the long term effects of statin poisoning.

Statins have side effects: My mom got achy muscles from them, so I know about it.

But if your cholesterol is high, and your risk of a heart attack is high, then take them.

If you are able to lower your cholesterol via diet, fine, but some people can't because of genetic reasons...

In all of these "preventive medicine" things you are playing the odds...
