A man millions of Americans consider no better than an unrepentant and un-indicted war criminal, ex-vice President Richard Cheney, is ranting from retirement. According to Mr. Cheney there is a “high probability” that terrorists will attempt a catastrophic nuclear or biological attack in coming years, and said he fears the Obama administration’s policies will make it more likely the attempt will succeed.

Sadly if the man public documents detail made more than a hundred million plus in war profits is correct and the Republic does suffer a catastrophic terrorist attack. A body of evidence, which grows daily since the election of Barack Obama, suggest it will be a direct result of policy he helped craft that would seem conceived more toward satisfying a wanton lust for money and power, than any desire to protect the lives of ordinary Americans and those who serve in uniform.

As researchers are at last able to begin accessing documents supressed during the Bush administration it allows for comparison between Mr. Cheney’s public statements with his behavior in private, he seems to typify and perhaps define the neoconservative culture that permeated the capitol during the eight years of George Bush’s Presidency, individuals best described as lapel pin patriots. Folks who preached one gospel in public while looking after pure self interest in private, their reprehensible and often criminal activity shielded by the power of the Presidency itself.

In the movie all the President’s men, deep throat urges Woodward to follow the money which is exactly what several individuals have been doing for years, a quest for truth undertaken at risk to their own life and that of family and friends. In the coming months dozens of articles and reports compiled by investigation journalists, will begin to color Richard Cheney and members of the Bush administration as men and women eager to fatten their bank accounts at the expense of those front line soldiers killed in the thousands and maimed in the tens of thousands. If rumors are accurate the proof of culpability has already begun to emerge from the mouths of pentagon staffers, and it may well become the smoking gun that demonstrate the Presidents men and women conspired to actively suppress reports that revealed profit for Richard Cheney and friends trumped the value of a solders life at every turn and became the determining factor in cobbling together a policy of the forever war.

What we already know from past congressional testimony is the greed of these people touched all aspects of militarily procurement, from the type of bullets issued to soldiers which were less effective than the militarily wanted, down to the electrical wiring in shower stalls that malfunctioned and electrocuted bathers, when it came to choosing between a few extra bucks or protecting a soldiers life, Profit was all the Bush administration cronies cared about.

Good people from both sides of the political aisle can disagree over the merits of a conservative or progressive approach to solving our economic woes, they can even argue and shout in good faith over policy on integration of suspected terrorists, but I speculate when rank and file conservative voters see for themselves what Dick Cheney assumed he had the ability to keep classified and hidden, even after he no longer possessed the kind of unchecked power that permitted him on a whim to order the Internets Earth Photo’s of the vice President’s residence blurred are at last brought into crystal clear clarity and focus, the popular caricature of him as the malevolent Darth Vader from Star wars will seem a very accurate description of the Nation’s 46th Vice President.
