Law School Hires Jose Baez To Teach Students

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Casey Anthony’s attorney has faced plenty of criticism in the case for forgetting the judge’s jurisdiction and for improperly filing court motions. Eyewitness News has now learned Jose Baez has been hired by FAMU law school to teach up-and-coming lawyers.

Baez is not teaching freshmen, he’s teaching upper-level classes how to get ready for trial.

Jose Baez passed the bar exam just three years ago. He has already confused jurisdiction and botched a motion in the Casey Anthony case. Now, he’s teaching law students at FAMU.

“How’s it going so far?” WFTV reporter Sean Lavin asked FAMU College of Law Dean Leroy Pernell.

“I don’t know yet. We’ve only been in session since here for a couple weeks at best,” he said.

Baez is also under Florida Bar investigation over allegations he spread false statements about the prosecutors.

“If he’s being investigated by the Bar, there’s a reason why, and they’re supposed to be setting examples for us,” FAMU law student Chris Hancock said.

The law school’s dean did not even know about the Bar investigation until Eyewitness News told him.

“Are you guys going to stay on top of it and see how it comes out and review it?” Lavin asked Pernell.

“Well, I think with any teacher or instructor, if there are matters that occur that would interfere with experience of students in course, we’ll monitor that and take appropriate steps,” he said.

Pernell said he will take no action until the investigation is over. That means Baez will keep teaching at FAMU and will earn $4,500 per semester.

Even though students were told not to talk to Eyewitness News, several said Baez has hired FAMU students to help him work on the Anthony case outside of the classroom.

Eyewitness News was unable to reach Baez for comment.

Wow! When I heard about G this a.m. I felt empathy for him and was not surprised about him contemplating suicide. I think he was the only one who actually really did love Caylee without all the baggage the rest of them carried. I think that C and M. never really took Caylee’s welfare into consideration …. their egos and need for power and control continually got in the way.

I saw some photos recently of G and Caylee alone that I had not seen before where George was holding Caylee and also sitting on the floor with Caylee, showing her how to play with a toy. The look on both their faces spoke volumes about how each of them felt about the other.

Man, that skank M. could end all this torture and confess but I bet she won’t cave even when she is found guilty of murdering Caylee. Bi*ch!!

Interesting info about the duct tape that was on one of the gas cans that LE seized back on August 1st. I bet that when the info comes back from the lab on that duct tape, it will match the tape used on Caylee’s remains. Another nail in M’s coffin!!!

Meanwhile, Local 6 News learned Thursday that a gas can with apparent duct tape on it that was seized from the home of George and Cindy Anthony, where Casey Anthony and Caylee lived, is being compared to duct tape found over Caylee’s mouth because the tape appears to be identical.

I see it like this. That hospital is the ONLY place he can talk to someone without the media surrounding him and bugging him. If he were to go see a therapist, the media would be all over it. They can’t be all over it in that hospital, and the confidentiality is much stronger there.

Okay staying on here a bit longer Pickles and C~A to ask jooh a few questions. Even though I’ve never dealt with a baby murdering psycho before I do have experience with addicts and fringe personalities some of which include just plain people who have had enough with a situation that they consider suicide.

YES WHEN YOU ARE ON THAT BOTTOM YOU DO CRY OUT TO THE PEOPLE WHO YOU THINK YOU HAVE WRONGED, HAVE WRONGED YOU, OR HAVE PUT YOU THERE.

He would have texted Sin, she is the only reason he is feeling trapped like this that he could contact. Very typical behavior. If I could count the times over the years that some addict has knocked on my door desperately seeking help that by all means should have forgotten me as a contact long ago due to what street life and shit brings you would not believe it.

When you are that low…low enough to actually contemplate suicide ( for any reason )or know you are self destroying yourself enuff that death is coming sooner or later you will make a desperate attempt at every known contact you ever had hoping to invoke a response.

You folks are under estimating how much desperation it takes to actually follow through with suicide. Yes it is a very weak act to perform on a normal level but it takes a lot of build up and a breaking point to get there…something beyond comprehension unless you have seen the fringe edge (and sometimes the lost cause end result of it). It actually takes a strong conviction that you would be better off dead to even mention such desperation to anyone.

LE took what they found the situation to be very seriously and I know they deal with suicide threats all the time. You folks are slanting your views on it based on your dislike for the ants in general. It took a lot to get G to this point and I think he was being damned serious about reaching out to someone before he actually had the courage and lack there of to end his life.

Don’t judge it just yet folks and take it from someone who deals with people on the fringes of this for various reasons on a weekly if not daily basis. G’s actions today are very genuine…while I could see Sin or Psyc*nt cooking it up and pulling it off I don’t see G doing it. He has been very calm and collected through most of this and any flubs he has pulled on camera he has been in close earshot of Sin.

Funny, today I saw the tape where G and C were on Larry King and when George was talking about the smell in the car really being pizza, I actually notice Cindy holding on to him very hard, leaning into him, and just piercing him with her eyes.

I think she was terrified that he would break and not say what she wanted him to say on Larry King. I was impressed with her attempt at her non-verbal control to keep George on C’s straight and narrow road.

So, I think George has reached breaking point but time will tell on this. Once out of the hospital, away from the support and observation, he will be back under C’s incessant need to control. G. might just slip back into the normal family dysfunctional ways of coping.

I hope that he finds himself some help, some medication, an ally just for him, and get beyond his toxic wife and daughter and be able to grieve however he needs to grieve.

When you are that low…low enough to actually contemplate suicide ( for any reason )or know you are self destroying yourself enuff that death is coming sooner or later you will make a desperate attempt at every known contact you ever had hoping to invoke a response.

You folks are under estimating how much desperation it takes to actually follow through with suicide. Yes it is a very weak act to perform on a normal level but it takes a lot of build up and a breaking point to get there…something beyond comprehension unless you have seen the fringe edge (and sometimes the lost cause end result of it). It actually takes a strong conviction that you would be better off dead to even mention such desperation to anyone.

LE took what they found the situation to be very seriously and I know they deal with suicide threats all the time. You folks are slanting your views on it based on your dislike for the ants in general. It took a lot to get G to this point and I think he was being damned serious about reaching out to someone before he actually had the courage and lack there of to end his life.

Don’t judge it just yet folks and take it from someone who deals with people on the fringes of this for various reasons on a weekly if not daily basis. G’s actions today are very genuine…while I could see Sin or Psyc*nt cooking it up and pulling it off I don’t see G doing it. He has been very calm and collected through most of this and any flubs he has pulled on camera he has been in close earshot of Sin.

JR, I was trying to say I wish the MEDIA was more responsible. Too many times, we see it’s all about ratings with them.

At the beginning I could understand why the media would focus on the suspect’s family BUT after it became evident their ONLY intention was to defend their daughter, the media should have been wise enough to walk away & not give them the publicity.

Sorry everone that this is long but really wanted to share some of stuff i”ve been considering.

My thoughts are that George is struggling with his own guilt around his part (inaction) in M’s upbringing, M killing Caylee, and the manner of how Caylee was murdered by his own daughter, and finally, Caylee’s death. He is watching his family disintegrate before his very eyes,

He would have known all the details we now all know and he may even know more gruesome things about how Caylee died. I bet he would be seeing images of her death in his dreams, thoughts, and mind’s eye as well.

In all this turmoil, G has to deal with C’s controlling and bullying on a daily (probably hourly … every nano-second basis). I can see how he got to being suicidal. Who does G have for a support in that mind f**king, crazy house or in his life. I read that G was a cop before he married Cindy and she made him give it up, so that really sets the tone for him giving in to Cindy, and later M.

I wish G had stood up and told C to flock off, took Caylee from M. and C.and then told M. to flock off too. But he did not and now Caylee is dead. He will have to live with this for the rest of his life, and maybe beyond.

It’s not easy to compete a suicide according to what my clients have said and according to the training I received re working with suicidal and mental health clients.

My understanding is that the pressure felt inside has to reach a horrific level before someone goes ahead and kills them self. There seems to be the hope that with death you become free of all that inner torment … and outer torment that G is having dealing with C and skank baby killer M. It’s was a way for G to move out of his agony.

li mom – all hatred aside for these grandparents…this man did not murder this child…I have to way on the side of caution here as a human being…and realize the catastrophic magnitude of his pain..it’s totally believable he wants to end his life..he said that after gj hearing to bring his gd back..he wants to be with her and end his pain…we can’t continue to sit outside the box at this point where a mans life is at stake…we can’t presume it’s an act…we like to think they can act any scene out but this is way out there…

Okay, I’ve been watching NG again. An officer from Daytona Beach said he can’t go into specifics about the letter because it’s being investigated ect. , but the only thing he said was that George wanted to end his life and be with Caylee. So I am still questioning how NG or anyone else for that matter outside LE would know that George said anything about Casey being innocent. No one else has stated that all day long.

I cant say I would turn my child away either. I would hold on to every strand of possible innocence. Reality is creeping up on him and it is sad. Even tho I really think all of them are accountable in some way for what happened. Their grandbaby is dead, that is the unnacceptable truth. I would want to kill someone, and may eventually think about including my self in the list of possibilities.

Too bad we will never know of Casey’s reaction to the news of her father’s possible attempt at suicide. Did she cry, put her head under the blankets, call her father to say she was sorry? What makes me think she put on her radio and listened to music and ate snacks? Maybe someday there will be a leak from the guards in the jail and we’ll know these details.

Until then.. the only focus should be the trial and making her pay for what she did to her child and the domino effect it has had on her family.

As for George’s suicide attempt. I have known 2 people who killed themselves. And one person in my immediate family who thought that might be a solution, but thankfully, has seen that was a mistake and is living a happy life now.

But, for someone who really doesn’t want to live anymore, you can medicate them, talk to them, they can even think they have changed their minds. But, if someone really wants to do it, they will do it. If not soon, then later.

I’m just wondering if next time he thinks of suicide, perhaps he will make it a murder/suicide and take his wife with him.

I can’t imagine the horror in the heads of those grandparents. To constantly think of the last minutes of that baby’s life. I mean, we all on this blog think of those types of things, and we didn’t even KNOW this baby. Imagine having loved and heard her laugh and touched her for almost 3 years? How can anyone stay sane in that situation?

Casey says HER life has been taken away? HER life? Every thing that woman touches turn to crap. Everyone in her family is either dead or in unbearable pain. But, oh yes, Casey, please … tell us how YOU feel.

At the end of the day we will all remember Caylee and think of her and never forget her. But when the camera is off the Ants, M is hopefully prosecuted to jail for life and Caylee is laid to rest.. They wont have Caylee back and they had lost their daughter. Its easy for us to hate M because we see what she has done and how horrible she has been to everyone around her but to look at your child and think what if they did what she did I bet you wouldn’t be able to even handle thinking of it much less live it. SO I do feel they have done wrong more C and Leevil, I know that this is the tip of the iceberg for their pain.

Okay, per your request to know …. Check out ‘Tori’ at 5:35 PM ……. Quite frankly, I had felt earlier on that I was sort of being “snubbed” by a couple of dominant bloggers ….. so I decided to just log off for a while, and take care of other errands. Then I feel I had my perception about such as being confirmed, so to speak, when I logged back on this evening, and saw the comment about me — “Who is she, anyway?” — or words to that effect. So … I responded with my explanation … and also used the opportunity to convey exactly what you have said here ….. namely, that this place shouldn’t include any veiled negativity of any sort about each other. This isn’t about us … it’s about the subject matter. Or so I thought.

PhoebeM, my apologies to you. I did delete the comment made by tori and I also deleted my note on yours about it being provacative. I do hope you accept my apologies. I am just trying to keep the peace in here and I do not want anyone thinking this is a club of any sort and that anyone in here runs this other than my husband Simon Barrett and I. We just want a place to talk about this case in peace.

It is late and I have to go visit with my parents in the morning. I just got news yesterday that my Dad is seriously ill so I am going to call it a night.

I feel for George, always have. You could see from the beginning he was really having deep depression, and once Caylee’s body was found, he has looked very very bad emotionally since.

He..deep in his mind knows the truth, I think, and he prolly kept going through things, over and over in his mind, trying to tell his self, that Casey didn’t do anything with Caylee, but everything added up to the fact that she did. I believe the LE knows that, when they found him, I think they know he is for real, because of the comments they have made about this, after they found him. This isnt their first suicide call, they have seen it all. They know fake.

And Cindy, I am sure, wouldn’t let George sort it all out for himself. I am glad he is away from Cindy, I know he will be ok now. He will get some help. Hope he stays in there for more then the 72 hours. Some individual and group therapy would really help. When your in a place like that, the doctor’s wont let you talk to someone, they don’t think is good for your mind at the time.

He has prolly tried to, at the least, get Cindy to look at the whole picture, and she wont let that happen. He got away from her to think for himself, without her mouth in his ear, telling him Casey didn’t do this!!! Thank you God, Cindy is out of his face for awhile!

I agree completely …. If the therapist he is now speaking with in the privacy of the health facility he’s currently staying at …. is worth his/her salt — then that professional will advise George not to feel guilty about what he will soon be subpoened to do …….. and that will be to testify, under oath, about the TRUTH of the matter in a court of law. Along with all his other emotions and feelings of guilt he’s probably having right now … he has to also deal with Cindy breathing down his neck. The therapist(s) there in that facility will probably just let him talk and talk and get all his personal and private feelings out …… and then will tell him not to feel guilty about it. And to go ahead, and say whatever he will have to eventually testify to in court. He is probably feeling extremely conflicted about the entire thing. He KNOWS the truth of the situation …. but also doesn’t want to be a party toconvisting his daughter to prison for the rest of her life. I also have a strong feeling that this is now at the end of the road of their marriage, most likely for that very reason.

I am wondering if there is any life insurance on George’s life? Asking G to pick out Caylee’s jewelry to wear to her Cremation? What? I think C knew what she was doing, and the possible/probable outcome … which we saw today.

Cremated with jewelry? That’s what C wants?
First a heart on the duct tape that covers Caylee’s mouth. HOW SICK is that?
Now, a viewing or cremation or both – with jewelry on? How SICK is that? Sunglasses?
Which outfit will C put on her? GOD won’t any Shrinks volunteer pro bono?

So C took G’s career away from him, then he became somewhat dependent on her – income? What DO you call controlling women like that? Is the name 2 words, and do they both start with a B?
B____l Br_____r?? Not sure.

George must be watched carefully. Nothing will change, it IS what IT IS! He might try it again.

BTW — I’ve mentioned this before, but was roundly ignored by a couple of other dominant bloggers when I said this — But I do feel that I have some personal “insight” into George and Cindy’s interaction with each other ….. due to the fact that I have an aunt and uncle JUST LIKE them! I mean, the very FIRST time that Cindy started opening her mouth and talking to the media ….. I was like — “OMG! I feel like I am listening to EDNA [my aunt] right now! And watching how my UNCLE scrapes and bows to her EVERY crazy demand!” It was a feeling of ‘deja vu’, all over again!!

Jewelry, it don’t make sense at all. Who would put jewelry on a skeleton, shows just how materialistic she is…ha!

I read, that Cindy went to see him in the hospital, hmmmm not good. lol. I also, read that in the note he was defending Casey, but was saying things about her friends.
Geeeeeeeeeeeezzzz I dont think the Ants will ever wake up at this point.

One more thing before I go to bed, maybe he will get to talk and get some things off his chest, while away from C she aways takes over on all these shows,and never lets him talk we just might find out some more!

Possibly a group discount could apply for this family’s therapy needs….they all need professional help and years of it.

I am sorry, but I am of the opinion that this was and is a real mental health issue for George. I see no benefit for the defense. None.

Think about how hard it is for someone to fall apart and want to die – and then have it made so totally public it that it is on every news channel and local paper in your state, and even nation.

Realize the shame, and judgement of others that those of us who have mental health problems deal with when we ‘break’. I have been clinically depressed and I am totally disabled by my illness…and have been since 2001.

Given the double standards of our society- men are expected to be tough- to protect – to ‘man up’.
This just increases the pain George must feel, and adds to the sense of hopelessness of the situation for him.

George has lost so much, and been under this pressure for months, has had to live with CINDY (OMG don’t get me started on how bad that must be), has heard all the horrible details of the duct tape, the sticker, the way the body was disposed of…and on and on. Many more details than we will ever know.

LE on the scene read the notes,saw the man,spoke to him and had him Baker Act’d. This is just one more of Casey’s victims.

I personally had an anxiety attack when I heard about the sticker…I had just gotten past the fact there was duct tape wrapped around this baby’s head, but that was truly more than I could take. I am a stranger…he is her grandfather.

George lives in a house full of the memories of that precious baby’s life, and possibly her death. Give this man a break.

What on earth does this do for the defense??? I just don’t understand.

All of this is of course based on the perspective of a mentally ill person. I realize it may be hard to understand why this seems so real to me.

I feel truly sad for this man, and his family. I do not have to like them, but I do pity them.

I know this is a delayed response, I was out for a bit, but in regards to a life insurance policy, NORMALLY, dont swear to always, but normally they are void if murder or suicide are involved. Even tho C is so twisted, I dont think she could be responsible for G’s actions. They are both twisted and both responsible for their own actions, the Lord doesn’t make exceptions when it comes to things like that. But do know that if these females have been this twisted for a while, and he stuck it thru, than he is an enabler. Sounds cruddy, but tolerance of actions like theirs, is just as bad.

PhoebeM: If you are serious about your complaints about this blog and “being roundly ignored” by “dominant bloggers” then I’m afraid that blogging may not be the best environment for you.

Most people here are really nice and go out of their way to make people feel welcome. (Pickles welcomed you personally yesterday)
But no one can be expected to take the responsibility of being the “right person” (re what you call “dominant blogger”) to respond at all or in whatever way you seem to expect to anyone’s posts. And for you to expect that is unrealistic and unfair.

Do you seriously expect whoever you call the “dominant bloggers” to watch for your posts 24/7 and be sure to reply – and be sure to reply on the “right” article – in case your feelings get hurt? Are you old enough to be blogging?

I saw your post about having an aunt and uncle like Sindee and G. Interesting. I know people who seem to be like that too! But so what? Your post did not lead me to have any questions or comment. What did you expect people to say?

None of us want to hurt anyone’s feelings but a blog moves very fast and who replies when and how to who is not something that can or should be controlled. When people are as sensitive and fragile as you seem to be I wonder if a blog – even this one – is the best place for you?

there was way more to the hope story (dream) i shortened it in my post, but i have a friend who is deeply spiritual and she had the same emotions happen as you did when I told her my story…

the thing is when that happened I truly had none, this was at a time when my daughters father had died, and well, as you can see someone wanted me to have more , and so now like I said in my post there are messages all around my home to remind myself to keep on having HOPE (wall hangings, little knicknacks etc) …lol

Just to help us all stay calm I’d recommend that we take these little bits of so-called news with a grain of salt. Duct tape LOOKS ALIKE! Gagillions of rolls are made every year.
Whoever said the duct tape on the gas cans looks like the duct tape on Caylee – well it’s like saying my masking tape looks like your masking tape! It means NOTHING!
I just hate it when “news” outlets report crap like that. It’s meaningless.
And people pretending to know what was in G’s suicide note? I seriously doubt it. All kinds of stuff like that is coming out right now and none of it is for sure. Very annoying and muddies the waters.

Good Morning all. I was off the site most of yesterday but scaned some posts this morning. This drama moves so fast with new ‘breaking news’ daily. I’m having a hard time keeping up with all this! Just a few comments this morning that I’m sure have been discussed at length. Jewelry to be buried with Caylee?? Why? Did I hear that right? Seems more than cruel to have G. pick it out with his teetering mind set. Also G. leaving a note still contending that m. is innocent? I hope that is not true….anyway I would think anything the note contained would not be disclosed. Baez teaching?? Is that school so hard up for instructors that they would consider hiring HIM?? That’s a joke.

the only one in this case who seems level headed is the ants att brad conway, he seems gunuine and concerned for his clients…not like bb who seems more concerned with his 15 min of fame!

when I was 57yrs old my Grand son was 3years old,couldn’t keep my eyes him ,focus Ha!then my beautiful Gr daughter came along she is now -the love & attention for them was unbelieveable ,
I understand how G feels he misses Caylee, part of him was taken away,and some men do not display their grief like woman do , my sympathy and condolencence,heart & prayers go out to G ,
On the other hand ,, he is a Former Policeman he has witnessed countless crimes in his life
Now this crime committed on his gr daughter, is beginning to unfold.
In he Suicide Note (comfirmed?) he says his Dotter is innocent , one could say that too ,, untill proven Guilty , My concern is ,, the facts and evidences Point to his Dotter , there will be more evidence, DNA ,& witnesses.
What it it going to take to convince him she is Guilty, the Wife ,Sinde I dont want to discuss her ,, as we all know she is the brainwashing B , Oh No!the Dotter is.

Gosh, it sounds like I have missed alot…my take on things is that, though, I didn’t think it possible, I HATE m more & more..
What she has done to all those who loved Caylee is inexcusable..
G is no saint, we know that. But I believe he is suffering for so many

Actually …. my focus had been less about being “ignored” …. and as Jan is aware, it was more about the “Who is she, anyway?” comment (referring to me). And the irony of this whole thing is that I had intended to come back to that and express my appreciation to you, Twocents, because I also saw where you had stepped up at some point and (correctly) explained to the other bloggers questioning what I meant …. what I meant. I had already logged off at that point … therefore I hadn’t seen your response until late last evening. So, thanks again. To answer your other question … I’ll apologize to anyone who misunderstood my intent. You know what? I think that this is proving to be a form of communication where things can very easily be misinterpreted, or misunderstood. Let’s just all stick to the basic topic … and not refer to each other by name anymore … For it is about topic ‘Anthony’. And let’s face it …. If the Anthonys have gotten online and have read any of what we’ve ALL written about them (as I believe they have — Even Casey herself referred to doing so in one of her jailhouse conversations) …. then it’s probably no wonder why Cindy sometimes responds to it anonymously, or why (in part) George finally reached a breaking point this week.

ive seen posts like that from time to time to…my question is why or how would they take the time to even come on here supposidly they dont even want to watch the news, and by the blogs titles they would know what they are gonna read..now if it was titled m’s possible innocense i could see but i dont immagine anywhere there is something like that, but i could be wrong!

Hello everone, I have been reading some of the early post, do you guys really think its C? Anyway I would just like to say,Its so sad about Caylee and now George,since I have been posting my comments on this site,it has helped to releave my stress and made me feel like I have a voice for Caylee,its not about who responds to me,but I do like it when they do almost like, you got mail and to let you know i welcome any responce, but its really not about me its about having a voice for Caylee,and i have learned there alot of good people out there with good hearts that feel the same way i do about Caylee. Its so sad Caylees life is over just think she might have grew up to be a famous singer or first woman present maybe a space travler,who knows what GOD had entended for her,and we all know someone took that away!Caylees not here to speak and we all feel like we are helping in someway.I think everone whats this story to stay alive so Caylee can get justice,and the person responsible be punished!I do hope George is doing better today, Lets All Speak For Caylee !

I suppose the defense might be interested in keeping an eye on the public’s reaction so they have an idea what a jury might buy. They’d also know what might offend a jury and know they need to come up with some alternate excuse/story.

If the defense is counting on being able to convince a jury that M is innocent and THE ENTIRE MOUNTAIN OF circumstantial evidence is all just a string of horrible coincidences, M is in deep trouble.

No matter how hard they try to cast suspicion on other people, the fact will remain….. Caylee was never reported missing.

Scary thought. If M came up with her idiotic lie (that she didn’t call LE because Caylee would be in danger) BEFORE her mother called 911, I bet the whole Ant family would have joined with M & done their “own investigations.”

Thankfully Cindy told her co-workers earlier that day something was seriously wrong with the car & her daughter’s refusal to let her see Caylee. She really couldn’t go back to work & STILL do absolutely to find out about Caylee because she had to know her co-workers would NOT just drop the subject.
