Alexi,I read your story about your experiance with Cyber Stalking, and its pretty much what happend to one of my family members. He's ex-wife was or maybe still the Cyberstalking... She has alot of his personal and parents inf. she applied for alot of credit cards under his name, and she even tried to take money out of his parents account so she can paid her bills. they file a police report, but because the bank was able to track it and stop the transaction they didnt do anything about it. she keeps doing alot bad things. its really hard to see him what hes going thruogh. Eventually, she'll get caught and the law will put her behind bars for all the crimes she's commited. She makes herself looks like the victim, but she's not

In today's society, it's really important to get the word out about cyber stalking, cyber crimes and identity theft. Bloggers are always looking for new content and new information. However, when utilizing new content for blogs its very important to either obtain permission to re-print or cite your source of information with the authors name on the blog post. Contacting the the author of an article and asking them if the their story can be used for a blog is an honor and in most cases permission would be granted. Posting an article on your blog and making it your own is wrong and against the law. This is known as plagiarism. Alexis A. Moore is the President of Survivors in Action and I know her very well as I am the Vice President of Marketing and well aware of this specific article written by Ms. Moore. It would be in your best interest to either remove this article from your blog or contact the author for specific re-print permission or be involved in civil litigation, the choice is yours.

WOW!! This is same story I read a few months ago in about.com, written by another writer Alexis A. Moore, a true expert in the field of cyberstalking.Great that you are getting the information regarding cyberstalking to the public, however your method is all wrong. You should never steal another person's work at least you should have the courtesy of acknowledging the real author by name and acknowledge that the work is not your own. I would like to see you try to do a follow-up with the same style of writing that you lifted from about.com by Alexis A. Moore on the subject. The true author of this material should be compensated and I hope the New York Times pursues this matter accordingly.

Your interest and desire to bring cyberstalking to the public's attention is a positive thing, but you are doing more damage than you can imagine by stealing the article from another source. You have damaged the reputation and credibility of a respected advocate and will harm the campaign to stop cyberstalkers. Please take your blog down or properly credit the real author.

Thank you,

Hi thats a great article. I think you covered the subject well.I'm a PI and I investigate cyber stalking cases by tracing the emails or blog posts back to the sender.
I like the part you wrote about taking quick action.
Too often we won't get hired until the trail is cold. Makes it much harder to locate and identify the cyber stalker.

Another difference to point out is the difference between cyberstalking (adults) and cyberbullying (kids). Same thing, it's just dependent on the age of the person that classifies the offense.

Thank you for clearing up some things. This was very helpful.

And it is sad how people are nowadays. Someone is always out to get someone else. Always use caution!

I find another thing, if you are a online chatter/video gamer & someone askes you QUICK like for your email or phone number, I find that shows stalker potential. Even if you chatted day/night. Just someone that is quick to ask for it usually means they might have stalker potenial.

Be safe!
