Its also not just about autism, it has to include a huge list of many associated conditions, learning disorders, co-morbid conditions etc.... as Donna Williams says "the fruit salad mix" each and everyone of us are different with our own story, just like those of you not on the autism spectrum, we are just differently minded, have neurological differences... Discovering what its like to live daily with a difference can take time, I often feel people are there own best judges, but it can take a while... to be honest the biggest misconceptions of people being on the autism spectrum is that we are all the same, we are not... in fact can be very diverse and different. So its not a matter of a simply check list, I wasn't diagnosed with any think until in my late 40s, I have many co morbid, associated conditions. Autism is the center my core or as I like to say AUTISM HEART, the differently minded part, its not about any label, its about true identity. I know only to well that others can only know what we tell them about ourselves. I am who I say I am and not what you say I am. When I was diagnosed not so long ago myself, I had no idea what the word Aspergers meant, now I feel one of my better discoveries in life as things started to make sense for the first time... but before that I had no idea myself, the autism frighten me like many and the wrong stereo type images, stigma would rush to mind and my perception was miles for what it’s really like. if you mentioned the word aspergers to me before I discovered self I would of had no idea what the word meant, so it is important that we all come together worldwide whatever our experience, as we all have our own unique story to share and we can all help RAISE AWARENESS WORLD WIDE, as it truly has no boundaries... Before so many things never made sense to me, now I am beginning to make sense of things but that takes a while and I have found so many like myself and no longer feel alienated, the aspie/auite community have embraced me as one of their own and for the first time in my life I truly feel like I belong somewhere, but my journey continues and I have no idea where it will lead... We all have to come together on this matter, I am more than happy to let you know just ask... I am still trying to figure those not on the autism spectrum and I thought I wasn't for most of my life!
