The election in the Conn./2nd CD is still unresolved, with Joe Courtney (D) holding a 167-vote advantage over Rep. Rob Simmons (R). But 2006 is a relative landslide, compared to 1994. That year, Ed Munster (R) failed to unseat Rep. Sam Gejdenson (D) - by 21 votes.

In 2000, the political fates finally caught up with Gejdenson, as - ironically - Simmons, the current GOP incumbent unseated him, in what the Hartford Courant described as “a stomach-churner”. And now Simmons, six years later, is in an extremely close battle with his own challenger, Courtney.
