According to recent report an asbestos clean up is set to start at Dobbs Ferry High after the discovery of the substance was made during an inspection last month. The work will be carried out by officials from the Asbestos Corp of America, and will be carried out in two parts of the school.

It is thought that the cost of removing the damaged asbestos from the auditorium at the High School will come to around twenty three thousand dollars. The auditorium has been sealed and locked for safety since the discovery of the substance last month.

Once the work at the school has been completed the asbestos firm will be disposing of the asbestos waste in the proper manner, stated school officials. They also confirmed that once the clean up was completed air testing would be carried out to ensure that the area was once again safe.

It is thought that some water had leaked in through a brick wall, and had caused damage that allowed some asbestos to also leak into certain areas of the auditorium, although it was not confirmed how long the area had actually been damaged.

Asbestos is a known carcinogenic, and can cause a range of health problems through exposure, including scarring of the lungs, respiratory problems, and asbestos related cancer known as mesothelioma.
