The Great Wall (Learn Chinese)

I don’t speak Chinese.  I speak an abysmally small amount of German after studying it for five years.  I know enough Spanish to ask for the bathroom and food, but not to understand the response.  In other words, it’s easy to tell I’m middle class from the Midwest.  But your children don’t have to end up like me.  Teach them a new language with this exciting educational tool.

Starting this January 20th, just in time for the Chinese New Year, now available on DVD from Little Emperor LLC comes the beginning of the educational series which will teach our children the most popular language on Earth.  The Adventures Of Walker & Ping Ping – The Great Wall & The Chinese Market is ready to come into your life and show you how to speak Chinese.  Bring home this interesting and wonderfully animated clever educational film today!

This educational disc contains two episodes, as indicated in the title.  In the first adventure, we see Walker.  He is fun and delightful kid who has just moved to Hong Kong.  One day, while walking his dog, he meets Ping Ping, a Chinese girl.  The two go to see Grandpa Joss who loves collecting things.  So off go Ping Ping and Walker to the Great Wall, but to return they must bring back water from the Bohai Sea, sand from the Gobi Desert and chop from a merchant in the desert.  In the second adventure, they go to a Chinese market.  They need to get a Chinese puppet, dumplings and a scroll, but they sure have a lot of fun and make some new friends along the way.

This disc does not contain any special features, but that does not detract from the quality of this superior education offering in the least.  Nonetheless, it would be fun to have a couple of educational games included.

Chinese will be the language of a successful future and this film makes the perfect introduction both to Chinese and China itself for your young children.  The animation is wonderful and the characters are a delight.  The Chinese words are displayed both in characters and phonetically, so it’s not tough to pick them up at all.  The stories which are told are so involving that it’s hard to remember that you’re actually learning and no simply having fun.  This is a wonderful way to help your children learn an important language and have a lot of fun along the way.

These Adventures will teach your children a great deal!

This DVD is published by Little Emperor LLC and had received a host of awards.  Among these are the iParenting Media Award and the Dove Foundation Family-Approved Seal, along with the honor of being an official selection at the 2009 Kids First Film Festival.
