After the Mumbai terror attack, it appears that Pakistan is falling apart.
The offer by the Taliban commander that they are ready to fight along with the Army is a matter of great concern as it indicates that Taliban and Pakistan army appear to be working together.
The two comments of Taliban made recently, namely, that they recognize Pakistan as the “Muslim State with Nuclear Capability” and that “Taliban will take over Pakistan shortly” read along with the offer of cooperation indicate that the end of Pakistan as a democratic country is near.
Whether or not India declares war on Pakistan, it now appears that Pakistan might start a war on some pretext. For a country which keeps uttering blatant mistruths such as “Kasab is not a Pakistani”, “We don’t have concrete evidence” etc. it is easy to say that according to their information, India started bombing POK and started a war.
If Paksitan starts a war this time, it wouldn’t necessarily be to fight against India but to integrate the Taliban into the Pakistan army and then take over the civilian Government along with the available nuclear technology.
In case Mr Zardari still has some pretentions of saving his country, the first thing he needs to do is for him to invite India and the United States to help him liberate Pakistan from the clutches of the Taliban and the rogue elements in the Pakistan army.
The common man in Pakistan who might still nurture hopes of a “Democratic Pakistan” needs to immediately take steps to stop Pakistan from being taken over by the Taliban.
In the past Pakistan has seen Military rule and it is not some thing new. But this time, the situation is entirely different since it would be the Taliban which would take over Pakistan.I reiterate that this is a threat to the world and not only to India.
In order to ensure that the nuclear arsenal does not fall into the hands of the Taliban, all civilized nations of the world need to come together for a joint action plan. China and Russia also need to join in. This is certainly a situation which threatens a “Third World War” however much we dislike such a development.
If an attack on Pakistan by a group of nations is inevitable, it must however be kept short and swift to reduce collateral damage. The More we wait, more is the danger of the Taliban taking over the nuclear arsenal in Pakistan.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackAll of us need to liberate ourselves - from infantile emotionalism. It is one thing to feel sorry about those killed in Mumbai. It is quite another thing to keep pushing for war in articles such as Pakistan Needs To Be Liberated. It doesn’t matter who starts the war. By speculating whether it will be India that starts the war or Pakistan, you end up advancing the idea of war between our two countries.
The talkers in each country clamoring for war will not be fighting themselves. The young soldiers on either side who’ll get killed and wounded won’t be from the families of these talkers. They will be youngsters from poor families. Who will take the responsibility in either country for the families of those killed in war? No one.
Let us say that there is a nuclear war. Has anyone in media written about the devastation that is likely to follow? What happens if Delhi and Islamabad get hit? There will be chaos, a long period of anarchy. Ordinary citizens who survive will chase every politician, every bureaucrat, every media person and beat them to death. Then what? With command and control destroyed it will likely be goonda raj or anarchy. It will be goodbye democracy. Goodbye freedom. Goodbye independence. Some foreigners - most likely Chinese - will come in with superior fire power and take over. We will be slaves again for another thousand years. Is this what the talkers want?
Let us say that there will be only conventional war. Do we have any idea what it will cost? It may benefit some manufacturers of steel, chemicals, tires, trucks and arms. But what will Indian and Pakistani societies loose? After a long, long time at least India’s economy is moving. Do we want to halt the movement? War will cause the stock market to crash. War will cause prices to go up. War will cause funds to be diverted from infrastructure.
So what should we do in India?
1. Draft people like former President Abdul to hold public hearings of what went wrong in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Jaipur, Gawhati, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
2. Raise an Internal Security Army (ISA). Maybe it is another million people. Let the police chase criminals. We are a country of 1.3 billion. There’s a lot of policing work that needs to be done. Our police may not be as good as we’d like them to be but they aren’t as bad as they are so often portrayed. Let our regular Fauj take care of protecting our borders. Let ISA take care of terrorism. Maybe this is where our retired Short Service Commission Officers and Faujis need to be placed.
3. The families of terrorists who attacked Mumbai were said to be paid some 4000 dollars. If we do not wage a war on poverty in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, this sort of mercenary killings will only increase. Religion and ideology will be the convenient platforms. Then it is only a matter of time before we become like Rawanda, Liberia and Dafur. We can and must expand trade. Millions of youngsters are coming into the labor force each year. We must give them at least jobs that will keep them occupied and paid.
No right thinking Indian would want India to end up as a slave country again. The British pulled out 2.5 billion pounds a year according to Harvard alumnus Adams. India’s share of the world manufactured output fell from 23 per cent to 1 per cent. India’s literacy fell to a low of 6 per cent. India’s life expectancy at birth during the British Occupation was 25 years. 50 million Indians lost their lives in 34 famines. There were 20 universities that the British left behind. Our parents and grandparents left us the gift of a ballot based freedom. Let us not lose it.
Our rich and our intelligentsia had better wake up and get involved. You will loose the families that you have created and the properties that you own if you sit on your behinds. Please form discussion groups. Join with others and discuss costs of war. Vote out politicians who advocate war. Tune off journalists who propagate war. Avoid academics advancing war.
Encourage people to think, talk and work on peace. This is the only way. War will only lead our great country to destruction and slavery.
naavi has lost his mind, Taliban on pakistani side its the biggest joke , Its like Natzi Hitler saying, jews and germans are together. The point is Pakistan is like that for 50 years and america is acting in region like an indian pimp broker. If war broke out then its a major holocaust for indians and pakistanis . I suggest Regional unbiased powers like Russia and China to step in and de-escalate the tension . Instead of america who wants to sell the ailing defence industry equipment to india and pakistan.
I am not suggesting that India will start the war. I am only suggesting that there may be vested interests in Pakistan who may be interested in starting a limited war.
I agree that I am speculating based on the media interviews and information which we have seen in the last few days about Taliban. If this is a joke and Pakistan is not in danger of falling into Taliban hands, I would be happy.
But we need to factor in such possibilities in working out a solution between the Pakistan Government and the rest of the world/
Pardon my borrowing a line from the 1st Clinton run, but it is indeed:
THE KASHMIR PROBLEM STUPID!
The sooner India, the world’s biggest democracy, shakes off it’s positive allergy to discussing this democratic issue (remember the democratically held Kashmiri plebisite?) the sooner the that WHOLE region and by extension, the West can feel safer. Cosmetic CBM’s with the real hope that the issue will be swept under the rug by the passage of time are a waste of time and money. HELLO???? Indian friends, is your government listening?
What is democratic regarding Kashmir? Militants have driven out all Hindus by violence and have created a problem out of nothing.
The concept of Muslim nation under which Pakistan was created is the fundamental problem not only for this region but also for the whole world.
It is understand India and Pakistan are heading for a difficult year ahead. But I am sure there is a solution to every problem.
God Bless All
There is merit in what author has written. Possibility of Taliban joing hands with Pak army and then taking over Pakistan can not be ruled out. Average Pakistani has no idea what all is going on inside their country. Hrad core Islamists want tro see whole world converted to Islam. This has been their dream ever since Islam came onto Earth. Creating terror has always been their stretagy. Its just a matter of time that a big war will be fought in this region. It will be for sure a Nuclear war. Wishful thinking is not going to avert this war. I am digging my bunker friends…better get ready…
Hello my Indian friends. You folks always bragging that “we are the most intelligent people on this earth” Why don’t guys simply ask this question to yourself that which country is benefiting from this tension? I can assure it is not Pakistan. They got engouh trouble in their backyard.
Dear Mr Khalid
We are concerned about the welfare of Pakistan since we know that it is in the interest of prosperous India that Pakistan is liberated from the clutches of Taliban.
We feel that the common people of Pakistan at this point of time are unable to control the developments which threaten to give Taliban a new home with sea route access as against their ealier abode in Afghanistan.
Hence this appeal to the Global peace makers to act decisively.
The idiot who wrote this article should be asked whether he is educated, and if he is then he wasted his time.
If any nation has the courage or considers themselve “man” enough, then welcome, come and attack Pakistan.
We are here and we are waiting !!!
