I know it’s become a little crazy, especially since he lost his sanity during both a Matt Lauer interview and an Oprah appearance, but I still think Tom Cruise and his voodoo magic are incredible.  I think he’s a complete nutjob and all sorts of other unimpressive things, but I have always liked him as an actor and I think I always will, no matter what happens.  To be honest, I believe a lot of the respect boils down to seeing this film early in my life and now it’s available in a whole new format for the first time ever.

Starting this December 30th, now available on Blu-ray Disc from Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Paramount Studios Home Entertainment comes the only movie on racing that has ever been worth watching.   Days Of Thunder – Blu-ray Disc is ready to come roaring off the track and blast right into your living room with it’s story of passion and really being driven.  Bring home this exciting and hopeful film about the champion in all of us.

Cole Trickle is a race car driver who is supremely talented and determined and has the fever to win like none other.  He is sponsored by businessman Tim Daland and sets out to win the Winston Cup.  Teamed up with crew chief and car builder Harry Hogge, victory seems inevitable.  Yet a fiery crash nearly destroys his body and shatters his mind and Cole must rely upon a beautiful doctor to peace him all back together.  This film stars Randy Quaid, Tom Cruise, Robert Duvall and Nicole Kidman.

The special features from this film straight out of 1990 include English, Spanish, French and Portuguese subtitles and the original theatrical trailer in high definition.  It is heartbreaking that there are no more special features than that.  This was perhaps the only good movie about racing cars, other than the one Lindsay Lohan was in with Herbie and that’s simply because she was in it.  How can there be no special features other than the obligatory ones?  Did this film inspire no drivers?  Was it really that unimportant?  I am genuinely disappointed about the lack of bonus features.

This movie is one of the first films that I ever remember seeing.  I thought it was fantastic and every time I have watched it since then I have liked it more and more.  Tom Cruise, even though he could pass for 21 in this movie, was beyond great in this movie and I loved Robert Duvall.  Who doesn’t love Robert Duvall and how could they not?  The story is very good and compelling and it hints at the kind of greatness that could have been had by NASCAR if they had tried hard enough.  Yet the star of this film is none other than that goddess of film, Nicole Kidman.  I fell in love with her when I saw this movie and that crush has never waned.  This is a fantastic movie and you could do far worse then to bring it home today.

Bring in the Thunder!
