A man from the UK who has been diagnosed with the asbestos related cancer mesothelioma is appealing for people to come forward and help him to claim compensation to support his family once he has gone. Sixty eight year old grandfather, William Armitage, is having problems making a claim because the insurance company in question cannot be located.

Mr Armitage worked at Henry Crossley (Packings) Ltd for ten years in the 1950s and 1960s. He said that during that time he was regularly exposed to asbestos. However, although he has found a lawyer to help with his claim the insurance company that is liable cannot be found.

He said: “I’m doing this for myself and to take care of my family after I’ve gone, but I’m also doing it because I know there must be other people out there who are suffering like me and should have some compensation.”

The lawyer working for Mr Armitage also appealed, stating: “We really need to find out who the insurers are for this claim to go any further and would appeal to anyone who has any information to contact us as soon as possible.”
