Jon I made a point to check that out, you are correct seems the good folk of Alaska did revise the law to prevent self-appointment to vacant senate seats by the Governor. Still she could always resign and run for the seat herself, but I speculate she wouldn't do that.

Under Alaska's revised constitution, there has to be a special election if Stevens needs to be replaced. It is not open to an appointment by the governor in Alaska.

Now I will agree that I believe Governor Palin was a bit misguided, I do applaud the fact that she brought a renewed sense of energy and excitement to Senator McCain's campaign that was DEFINITELY not there before her arrival. I do not foresee the governor as the presumptive nominee for the Repubs in 2012. I do think we are looking most likely at a Bobby Jindal. He was wise to sit this one out and take care of things at home. I am not saying that Ms. Palin won't become a strong voice in the Republican party, because I do see her becoming something of a Howard Dean-like figure to the party. Someone who is fiercely partisan, even to the detriment of their own public persona.

Well, Governor Palin herself exhibited a level of vicious malice and tolerance for the worst sort of red-baiting, terror-baiting, race-baiting, and class warfare beyond comprehension. Because she did it with a cheerful, perky demeanor did not take away from its repulsive affect on human nature at her rallies.

You bring out what you're about.

This sounds like Tabloid tripe. Sarah may want to put old town friends in state positions, and be over the top in many regards, but my hope is this: the Alaskans wanted a felon in the Senate. Give them what they want. And don't censure him either! Just remember, felons can't vote. Let that chick come home to Alaska to roost. Let it be.
