Previously, a few years ago, on another site, I’ve experienced the nightmare of being cyberstalked. From my experience, this is the way it begins. The person returns in order to irritate, and then it can escalate. In my opinion, it escalated today, to a possible threat for one specific person–Catherine.

This imposter appears to just be bothering and interrupting the group of people that he wants to be a part of but cannot because he was banned for bad behavior. But he does not appear to be willing to give it up, and trust me, it’s quite easy to find ip addresses online (for a small fee, anyone can make it appear that they’re posting from countries all over the world). He can return again and again, with a new email address for every post.

Catherine–It looks as if this person has targeted you. I say this because of the history of this person within this group and because of today’s 3:24 p.m. post, which could easily be perceived as a threat. I recommend you making a hard copy of this blog, to include this 3:24 post. I have made an electronic copy of it, and in case you ever need it, I could email it to you or the authorities.

I know more than I ever wanted to know about cyberstalking, which is a crime, punishable by law. The most important thing is to try to nip it in the bud, which is why I am suggesting that everyone inform themselves of cyberstalking laws.

The laws that would apply would include the state in which the victim resides, the state in which the stalker resides, and possibly the state from which this blog is launched. All states are different, some have more stringent laws than others. Florida has good laws, from the victim’s viewpoint. Civilly, too, considering that victims have been awarded up to $100,000.

If this imposter did indeed cross a new line today by making that 3;24 pm post, then there is a good chance he may cross the line again or may cross other lines. Per all state laws, if this is a threat, then he would already be in more trouble because he has followed the group to a new blog site. Following someone around on the internet ups the anty, so he is making it worse on himself by doing this.

Cat, if you do perceive the 3;24 pm post as a threat (as I do), or if you simultaneously receive threatening emails, please consider going to your local police with this matter. Just bring your printed copies and a list of the url links to the affected sites with you. Perhaps Jan could give you the IP addy of the 3:24 post (or the other posts where he impersonated people, which also can be considered cyberstalking).

Most cities now have Cyberstalking Teams experienced in dealing with such cowards. I hope by now you will recognize my style of writing and will trust that I am genuinely concerned.

I am not a part of the emailing group here for the very reasons stated above–I have experienced cyberstalking, and cannot take any chances–ever. However, if it would help you, then by all means, I would be glad to give Jan permission to give you my ip address so that you will know who I am and know that I am a trustworthy friend.

My advice is for NO ONE to address this person. I consider him dangerous at this point. He has taken his game to a new level. Please don’t take any chances. He could easily continue to up his game. And whatever you guys do, please do not give any personal information online and be careful with emails.

Meanwhile, I will continue to read your informative posts but will not be back until I believe these sites are safe.

I think this person can be tracked and reported to their IP for abuse and lose the ability to post with that IP. I’m all for that!
