FYI By the way I refer to Great Britain because England and Scotland and the like are referenced collectively. Politically they are one in the same, much to the chagrin of Wales and Scotland. The strife never ends.

Tit for tat Neal. Is that what you are trolling for?

The only reason why you might think "Britain" (not England) are your best pals is because they backed the US in the Iraq war (while Canada abstained), and thus get all the media attention. But your politicos think differently when it comes to who they consider their best friend - Canada, thy friend taken for granted.

You needn't fret though, I won't be losing any sleep over your seeming crabbiness towards Canada. To the rest of you with similar perspectives, Canada is just that Arctic land to the North with most of the world's polar bears. As for Britain, Canada takes precedence over affection between the two countries, since the Queen is our Head of State, and most of us like it like that. The commonwealth connections between our two countries - Great Brit and Canada - I guess that's why we rallied to Britain's aid during World War II, while America sat and twiddled her thumbs. But these things are past, but you seem the argumentative type so I put that there just to get your fingers itchy. But truly, if you want to imagine they love you more, or vice versa, be my guest. Most Americans I know define themselves proudly to be NOT attached to the motherland. Whereas for many Canadians, you find the opposite. Trivial banter.

As for Nafta, you brought it up not me. If you see that as a flaw of Clinton's, so be it. But I noticed you failed to mention one of his biggest catastrophies of all - the sub-prime mortgage fiasco, partly under his watch. First Carter, then Clinton. No fan of Bush here, but at least he tried to resist such folly by overhauling the 'housing finance industry' - Sept.11, 2003 (New York Times). But what stopped him? Congress.

"These two entities — Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — are not facing any kind of financial crisis" - Barney Frank/Financial Services Committee. Now there's a bright fellow. But I haven't the energy to try and educate you on how such things evolved in your country. Your vote is cast. So be it.

Your families military service? Honourable and commendable.

On your Mayflower ancestors? Brave people, as were many who made the journey. My Cree ancestors were happy to welcome you all.

Reading your comments inspire me to engage even more over this election. Isn't free speech great? People can disagree and still be nice to each other, well at least that's how I was brought up. Nice talking to you Neal. Be happy. Life is short. God Bless.

Sweet Jules,

You are not our best friends...Its England who would I am sure stand to correct you on that comment. She always throws her lot behind us with any substancial numerical quantity when things get bitter. As for NAFTA...Many here think it was Clintons biggest err outside the Monica scandle. And what happens here effects most country's around the globe. So no news flash so far. But to my knowledge we haven't distributed voteing booths north of the border yet..So forgive me for being rude if that's how you see it. But hey political correctness was never my strong suit. So again deal with your own political quagmires. My family members have fought in almost every major conflict this country has ever been involved in. since it conception. As my ancestors came here on the "Second Ship" the one just after the Mayflower. So you won't find much remorse for my political position nor regrets for telling foreigners to bug out especially where you are concerned...Now Don't you think you could concern yourself with some pertenant local matter...Like building your own bridge to no where...Thanks some more!

Bravo! Neal Catherine says.

Bravo indeed. Bravo for being rude. An attractive trait to be sure.

So free speech only extends to the borders of America? I don't need to "understand Americans at all" to offer an opinion. But given the number of relatives I have in the States and friends working/married in/to America(ns) I've a pretty good sense of "real" Americans. So don't fuss so. Actually you're the first ungracious person I've encountered on any bulletin board. But you know, as they say, there's always a first for everything. If you were looking to bait me, sorry wrong girl.

As for keeping my opinions to myself, sorry, not gonna happen. Until Canada stops being your number one and most important trading partner, stops playing an integral role ALONGSIDE AMERICANS in Afghanistan, stops being your number one supplier of oil, stops sending electricity your way, stops being America's best friend, stops having YOUR FEDERAL RESERVE ask for help from Canada to help shore up some of YOUR BUGGERED BANKS (look for our banks to continue to buy yours), well, us annoying Canadians will continue to have an opinion.

Fact is, what happens in the States affects our country and, if you watch world affairs, you'll see that the infection from America's subprime mortgage fiasco has infected the entire world, although Canada is just fine with respect to that. So until otherwise, I will continue to have and express my opinion. Just as I hope you'll take a moment from your national navel gazing (a common trait of unenlightened Americans) to perhaps have an opinion to what happens in ours. Until then, you'll have to find another outlet to channel your irritation.

We recently held our national election and I thought it was pretty great that Americans would take the time to offer their opinion on our bulletin boards. Sometimes a fresh perspective can shake one out of a stupor. Well, except for Michael Moore trying to stir the pot in Canada a few weeks back. A minor annoyance to be sure. But we're all grown ups and can handle it.

So my, and your, right to free speech will continue across the border. I happen to think America is a great country with very innovative and generous people and know that choosing the right President will affect their fortunes going forward. "REAL" Americans know that it is hard work and stick-to-it-ness that built your great country, not a desire to be attached to the govt. nipple or over-taxed. Real Americans know that's how you all got through 9-11 (of which some of us had direct ties to victims), the rash of forest fires (family affected), the mid-west floods (friends affected), and of course Hurricane Katrina (for which some of those damned Canadian rescue workers were first on the scene in some areas).

God Bless America, and you too Neal.

To "Jules" the unbiased Canadian observer:...You know you really don't understand Americans at all...weather they be Alaskan or Texan...We all have 1 common inherant trait. We feel free to argue and call each other to the carpet at will. Its sort of like were all 1 big unhappy family. But as in most families here in the "GREAT USA" when we fight among ourselves that's 1 thing, but when an outsider feels cozy enough to want in on some of the action. They are generally surprised how fast we can unite to cast aside the intruder. In other words "Hopefully you and ones like you will suck it up and swallow some common sense. Keep your oppinions to yourself when it comes to our national affairs! Because most of us really don't care what side of the board your on as we already know what side of the border your on!...Thanks!

Palin is "Mavrick" even among McCain's Campaign.

Palin has her own agenda. It was fool hardy to think she can follow directions from McCain's campaign.

Here's my two bits as an unbiased Canadian observer.

In Canada, we have two constant warring perspectives: West versus East. Politically we somewhat categorize it as Conservative versus Liberal. In our latest Federal election the Liberals got historically pummelled with their blithering Professor candidate and the Conservatives prevailed and were reelected.

Alaskans are more like Northern and Western Canadians than most of the United States. REAL Americans identify with that. Thus the popularity of Sarah.

Unfortunately, as much as McCain would like to be a maverick, he has seemed in some instances to alienate his true conservative valued base. Why? Because it's likely his advisors or himself, think they need to pander to the centre to win an ever changing electorate in the States. It is likely harming him. Some people will vote for an opposing candidate just to show their disappointment - to send a message. This is silly. But that's what happens.

Between McCain and Obama though, commonsense would lean towards McCain. Hopefully Americans will suck it up and swallow some commonsense before they head into the voting booth.

Sarah will continue to appeal because she adheres more to traditional conservative values. If she is finally starting to break free from all the handlers, she will finally be able to be herself. Last time I checked it was in being herself that won her the love of the Alaskan people.

If you watch her pre-election media coverage on youtube she is NOT STUPID. She is bright, articulate, and well, SHE GETS IT.

People seem to forget NO politician is perfect. Nor will you agree with each and every issue, the important thing is that you connect with their values and general political perspective. If people are connecting with Sarah it is because she's the closest thing to the average person than any other candidate. No nonsense and gets it done.

You might all be interested to know that choosing as "Deputy" Prime Minister is OPTIONAL in Canada. This would be similar to your VP. We haven't had one for two year and still don't and none of us are loosing any sleep over it.

Too bad the media didn't spend more time vetting Obama. Nope. Clothes and babies are so much more important.

THE LADY IS A ROGUE TRAMP
(The Lady is A Tramp, Frank Sinatra)
WilliamBanzai7

Sung by John McBlame:

She's just too hungry, for a Vice Presidential date
She loves political mud slinging, never heard of Watergate
She'd never bother, with "UnAmerican" voters she hates
Thats why the lady is a rogue tramp

Doesnt like to play games, with media barons and earls
Would only go to campaigning, in ermine and pearls
Will dish the dirt, unlike the rest of us girls
Thats why the lady is a rogue tramp

She loves the free, fresh permafrost wind in her hair
Northern redneck life without care
Shes broke, but its ok the RNC's there
She loves her trailer camp even though, its cold and its damp
Thats why the lady is a rogue tramp

Doesnt like strategy games, with sharpies and aides
Won't get on the bus unless its prepaid
Will dish out more campaign dirt, than the rest of us broads
Thats why the lady is a rogue tramp

Will dish out more campaign dirt, than the rest of us broads
Thats why the lady is a rogue tramp

Thank you - You are correct. Many of us, the Conservatives of this country, have been waiting for someone to step up to the plate and truly lead. It's terrible the way that the media has derided her. It is insulting to the people of Alaska to insinuate that they didn't have good reason to elect her. She truly is a great woman. I welcome her leadership.
