[So far as the reports from Iraq indicate, there is no way we can keep the peace in Iraq short of permanent occupation — which the dominate Shiites obviously do not want. The Kurds have gone their own way and the Sunnis are full of doubts as an endangered minority. The dream of an ordered democracy there is probably a century or so out of date, given the tribal rivalries deeply embedded and unleashed by our war ON Iraq.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a Trackbackit is really amazing why american (some) cant understand what this means to our freedom. bush is doing the right thing. seek out you enemy & destroy them. they just dont know what it means to have your rights, freedom, speech, etc taken away.
last week the BBC said the war was won and Iraq was back to where it was in 2003, before Bush broke it…
the wars in Mesopotamia go back for 8000 years, so one doubts that the place will return to being a garden of Eden…
But at least the original garden of Eden (i.e. the southern swamps) are recovering after Saddam drained them to punish the people.
