John McCain will be visiting New Town, St. Charles this Monday. Attendees will be allowed entrance at 7am and the rally will begin at 9am. Tickets will be required for this event. Â More information can be found at www.barackobama.com and www.johnmccain.com .
It is important for people to attend these events and really listen to what the candidates have to say. This is not the time just to vote republican or democrat just because it is what you have always done. This is one of the most important elections in recent history, and when Americans vote this time around they need to know what and for whom they are voting for.
Our country is in dire need of change, and we are desperately in need of a president that can bring a positive change. As parents most of us know how bad the financial crisis is and many families are finding themselves homeless. We need a president that can help people stay in their homes, help those who have lost their homes and one who will give us hope that a brighter future is on the way.
Recently, my 13 year old daughter had a friend over, and when my daughter was begging for something frivolous from the store her friend replied, “Geez! Why do you want to spend money so much? Don’t you even care about the price of gas these days?†This was so shocking to hear from a 12 year old little girl. Why would a 12 year old that doesn’t drive care about the price of gas? Why would she worry about being careful with money?
Being a parent this statement from a little girl really hits hard. Our economy is in such a horrendous state that even the children have been affected and they realize it. They realize that the items that were once so easily bought for them aren’t available. They are hurt when they are taken out of extracurricular activities because their parents can no longer afford it. They notice that their once home cooked meals have become grilled cheese and tomato soup on a regular basis. The children sense the stress from their parents, and understand that something in this country is terribly wrong.
Our children are our future and the future of this country. Currently they are in line to inherit a trash dump. Please register to vote if you haven’t, and before you vote be sure to really look at the candidates. For your children, take the time to be sure that you have made the right decision. And in case you are wondering, my vote will be going to Barack Obama.

Hello, there! My reply is simply a question to you, the author… Why Obama if you are voting in regards to your child’s future? She is 13, correct? So, High School is her future for the next 4 years. Want does Senator Obama have planned out in order to help her? Free condoms?! I suggest you do as you’ve instructed your readers to do and become informed(that means reading the candidates proposed plans for their 4 years as President NOT watching some paid 2 hour long ad on certain channels for which the candidate has spent thousands of dollars to put his name on!)and then, get to their local polling site on Nov. 4th and make an educated vote! Thanks for letting me voice my opinion… DEMOCRACY is our GREATEST FREEDOM!!!! (p.s. check out Obama’s stance on freedom of press, too…)
I think we need a president who will “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States”
“Currently they are in line to inherit a trash dump”
WOW! Why? O’ thats right, Bush and Cheney. True, money is going to get tight and children should understand how money is earned and spent. By “spreading the wealth around” we discourage what helps make this country the best in the world…entrepreneurship. We’ve got to stop blaming Washington for problems that can be solved in our own homes. We live in one of the few countries where success is determined by the individual not the state.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!
I agree with your sentiment. Wholeheartedly.
I am saddened by the direction the discussion between the two candidates. I think you would enjoy viewing Colin Powell’s statement as to why he is endorsing OBama.
We need to support leadership who, holistically, is in a better position to stabilize our position in the international community towards peace, make wise economic choices and inspire people to get involved in their communities and their politics.
I think that person is OBama.
I am ashamed that people are stating things like, “He’s an Arab”… First, he isn’t. He’s Christian. Second, what does it matter? Truely. This country was founded by people fleeing from unfair religious persecution; now, look at what we’ve evolved into.
The energy/climate change crisis.
The economic crisis.
Turbulent forg relations.
This is what matters.
Being a New Yorker, I’m somewhat jaded about the midwest states. I know there are intelligent people out there (like the bloggers as well as the respondents), but pop culture as well as some personal experience have made me feel like coastal people and the middle America seem to be from different planets. There is no reason for me to say to whom I will vote for this coming Tuesday as I don’t think it matters in the point I’m trying to make here. I’m just glad that this kind of conversation (triggered by this blog entry) also exist in the midwest. By the way, of all things, I stumbled upon this blog by Judy looking for a review on Ruby Tuesday
And I will be heading there to stuff myself right now!
Thanks and though I don’t believe the saying “God Bless America” is a logical proclaimation, I do hope that with some changes in the near future, “America can at least try to keep up with the rest of the developed world” since in many aspects, we’re NOT #1. Not even close.
