On the question of why the english population get so upset on protecting the french culture, it’s because for over 35 years our rights have gradually eroded. Most Canadians do not have an issue to protect the French culture but there is a limit to what cost it should be protected. It is not morally right to protect your culture at the expense of another. There are many things I want but there is a limit to what I will do to get it. Sometimes things are just not be. The english have been very supportive of the french for a very long time, but enough is enough. We can’t speak our language, we can’t work in our language, we are constantly reminded that we are a problem in this province. Hey, take it easy. Do I have to remind you that you are still part of Canada and receiving the benefits from it. The least you could do is show us some respect. Otherwise, wait to become your own country, then do what you want. And don’t think separation will be easy. You should read the “Clarity Act”. Good Luck on your own. If you decide to stay, then start behaving like a partner not like a spoiled brat. Together we could be strong and help protect your language throughout the country. Canada spends $150M a year throughout the country on bilingualism. How much does Quebec spend?

My mother live in Winipeg, I do live in Québec city. So, i can have a little view of the both side.

Firts, it is true that some of the Québécois do not respect the fact that Canada is trying to help us a lots. In a other hand, RoC don’t seem to understand that before, Canada wasn’t realy nice with Quebec. Lets explain myself:

First, Québécois did stop use words like: ”square hear” cause is racisme and vbery disrespectfull. Well, reading this page make me realise something:

This, is racisme. Understand before saying stupid things would be a good idea for you.

Next: Law 101. Why are you so mad about the fact that publicity and all the stuff must be in french in a province where 90% of the people is talking french? What the hell? If you worri SO MUCH about the fact that the contrie is supposed to be bilingual. Fine with me; next time I go in B.C. I whant tings been write in both language. As a french speaking Québécois, living in Montréal right know, I can see what’s happening for real, you make judgment on Quebec without knowing any historical facts about it.

Right know, the english speakers are a threat to the QC culture. Not that i’m racist, I have a lot of good anglo friends. But if you go down the streets in Montréal and ask directions in french to an english speaker, they won’t even bother to listen to you, but if an english speaker ask directions to a Québécois, the french person will try real hard so that the other one understand. They come into a french-speaking territory without trying to learn the language, but even forcing others to accommodate.

About 80% of Quebec are francophone and 10% are anglo, however, this little 10% is running the damn whole province! They impose their culture on people who lived this way for 400 years (with changes, normal) and they can do it because they have money

We have our own traditional food, our music, our own emissions, our films,
Our language. Our mindset, our values and our way of thinking is often different from
Anglo.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate Canadians, Canada is not my enemy It’s just not my country!

I go down town ottawa and all I hear is french. This land use to be mostly english and we english were happy. in the last 30 years it’s been getting infested by the french. Americans and the rest of the world is attracted to that “nouvelle France”, what a great way to feel like visiting Europe and being annoyed by the french for a week or two.

This said I prove my point and exposed the very reason Quebecers hates the English for not making a little effort to speak a little French…after all I just wrote in English and you guys can barely say “thank you” or “hello” in French when you visit …I prefer the Americans over you guys without thinking about it twice, if United-States was to buy us…they would make Quebec a little “French land” make profit out of the whole thing of course but they are smart enough to understand the importance of preserving a cutlture!!!!

It has always been Quebec vs Canada…we do not speak the same language, we do not have the same mentality, we do not have the same values, nor do eat the same foods…etc
Anyone who has driven through Canada will tell you that driving into Quebec feels like you are on another continent.

Ever since the english invaded hundreds of years ago, we have been fighting for our rights…for our language. Now that we finally have rules like Bill 101, we are chastised by english Canadians.

You misunderstand us so badly…that is why Canada will never be united as long as Quebec is part of it.

In 1995 we were so close of achieving victory.
However, most of the immigrants that had only lived in Quebec for a few years were insecure by the prospect of leaving Canada…so were the english residents here. This tipped the numbers slighly in favor of “NO”.

The majority of Quebecors (french) want to separate from Canada and the vast majority of you want us out.

We should have a refferendum were everyone in Canada would be allowed to vote if Quebec should separate or not…the result would be a resounding “Yes !” and we would have peace atlast.

I do consider myself a Qcbker. Just to let you know for some questions, you are simply spreading propaganda. If Québec does get 1/3 of the funds or what ever its cuz it’s almost 1/3 of the canadian population. And by the way I actually see the results of the billions of dollars spent on ”translations” and my mom worked in a hr call center and honestly with all of the respesct you think french people are second class citizens. People get promoted because they know how to say hi in french. The call center she worked said they where offering fully bilinguial services when the offices in torronto only had several phrases written on a paper to transfer them as fast as possible to another line so they could get them off of their hands.

I do think that what makes canada unique is the french & english. But remember that, New france never asked to be part of Britain. We were invaded and some of are population were deported to the states where nowaydays the only way to different them is their last name.

I work in a tim Horton’s and i must say its just sad how nobody gives a sh*****t about quebec. They think a poor translation will do the job. For example we had a bottle of Iced coffee base maker and it was written: Saveur artificial et naturel. when it should of been written Saveurs artificielles et naturelles. I mean honestly do u really think we don’t notice. And please stop comming in qbc and ordering in english and being all rude when we say hi to u in french or what ever …… Sometimes i get really pissed but i am proud to be canadian but i must say the rest of canada needs to stop being so selfish. I am sick and tired of the discrimination by the Quebecois on the Anglo-Quebecers and the English Language in Quebec. The Language Laws of Quebec like Bill 22, Bill 101 and company are unconstitutional and must be abolished and the Office Quebecois la langue Francias must be demolished as well. The English Language was illegaly removed as the co-official language of the Province of Quebec and must be restored voluntarily or by force if necessary. English should also be restored on signs, etc at the same size of that of French.

Under the Constitution Act of 1867, the same act that made English and French official languages of the Dominion of Canada also made English and French official languages of the Province of Quebec.

It’s my belief that if the Quebecois seperatists don’t like living in Canada (Quebec is a part of Canada), they should leave on the next plane or ship and go back to France. Canada must stop appeasing these cockaroaches and deal with them accordingly. Canada must protect the English Language and Anglo-Quebecers even if that means sending in the Military and declaring Martial Law. The Parti Quebecois must be banned and it’s supporters and members deportated from Canada (including Quebec) and sent back to France where they belong.

The 1 Million Anglo-Quebecers who left Quebec because of the terror of the FLQ and the tyranny of the Liberal and PQ Parties must come back home and make Anglo-Quebecers a large minority with in Quebec. The Anglo-Quebec Population must be increased from 10% to 30% of the Province’s population. The Anglo-Quebec Communities must be increased from 18%-60% and 2%- 40% of the population of the Cities of Montreal and Quebec City respectivaly. Only with a large Anglophone population in the Province of Quebec, will the Anglo-Quebecers have their rights respected and protected.

P.S. If the Quebecois seperatists want a conflict then lets BRING IT ON.

The Nationnalist in Quebec is just a way to regain some energy and be a better people people that does something instead of waiting for some english to do the work for them.

I tell you guys. There is a lot more fo Canadian lovers in Quebec than separatist. Separation is going down. But the Federal has to change a bit IF we accept the FACT that there is a french culture in the Canada.

Let me begin by saying that the following is not an attack on Quebec’s individuals. If the majority of Quebec citizens have voted against separatism I admire them and I have hope. This opinion is not about them but about my perspective on the way Quebec’s “attitude” as a whole appears to me.

The only other places I know of that are so insular and fanatical are some Muslim countries with their “My way or the highway” philosophy. (Oh and some “private” Mormon-style ranches in the US! Who knows what goes on there? EEK!”)

They all scream “Your way is SO wrong that I have the right to (a) kill you and/or (b) keep all my wealth so your poor will not benefit. In addition, when you are HERE you better do things my way or I will KILL you! and when I am in YOUR country you better respect ALL my ways; change your rules, regs, laws, society to ACCOMMODATE ME! But I don’t have to have any respect for you even as a human being at all anytime anywhere.”

That scares me partly because France and Quebec are (IMO) overly friendly with some of these countries. Perhaps the shared point of view (MY WAY is the ONLY WAY!) brings them together against the rest of the world. And it’s some of those Muslim countries that breed and train the most evil terrorists in the world. Even if Quebec is not yet breeding such evil people (with such an hateful attitude I’d be surprised if it wasn’t), I am sure it is hosting, educating, and supporting some.

The world is just too small and fragile to tolerate the attitude that “MINE is the ONLY way” whether it’s religion, language or culture. No one gains respect with that attitude. When will Quebec grow up and learn? Or will it need a “spanking” first. (Re-read last paragraph of my previous post. )

Quebec, please study up the the American Civil War (you’re the South). And the rest of Canada, please study up on WWII. All you have to do is march in. They’ll throw you a parade!
