One has to love CNN, they rarely actually cover news any more. Over the years they have eroded the news business to something that only Spike TV watchers could love. There are several CNN persona that I find grating, the biggest idiot has to be Lou Dobbs, this guy should probably have a body guard when he goes to the supermarket. Lou, bless his little cotton socks has managed to outrage just about everyone except Rush Limbaugh.
Nancy Grace, is not far behind Lou, she is obnoxious,. She has surrounded herself with ‘has beens’ and ‘wanna be’s’ but actually does not tell us anything we have not heard.
In typical Nancy Grace style we were given an hour of old news and pointless commentary about the disappearance of three year old Caylee Anthony. Among Nancy’s guests was Cowboy Hatted Californian Bounty Hunter Leonard Padilla. A couple of days ago he was using exotic words like Pyrrhic, today his IQ was slightly smaller than his hat size. He put forth the theory that the borrowed shovel might have been used to fish the dead body of little Caylee out of the swimming pool. Doh!
I used to think there was two types of dumb, there was the naturally dumb, and the learned dumb. I realize I was wrong, there is now the Padilla dumb. And Padilla dumb trumps the other styles!
The good news in all of this, is that a not so secret Grand Jury is meeting tomorrow to look at handing down a Murder One recommendation for Casey Anthony. Wow, that will put a cramp in Casey Anthony’s fun. Better still, it is possible that the entire family could find themselves in trouble.
As a reporter, I am always looking for ways that I can make a story. I happen to know a couple of ex FBI honchos. So I bounced the idea off them, this was the response.
I wouldn’t want to make the investigators’ job any harder here - I’ve been there. We might get some attention, but we’d end up looking no better than the hundreds of talking heads who are already blathering about Caylee’s case.
This gave me pause for thought. Yes, Nancy grace is out there for ratings. It really does not matter that she chews the same information day after day. There is always someone that is willing to appear on the show, and an almost endless of idiot phone questions.

For myself, sometimes I have wondered why people the world over are up in arms over this case. Then it came to me.
Casey Anthony represents everything that is evil and every child abusing parent we know of. We want justice, not only for little Caylee, but for all the small ones who have been hurt or killed by the very ones who were responsible for protecting them.
I believe anyone on this blog would have stepped out and protected Caylee if you could have. I want to thank you all for caring and doing what you can toward getting that justice.
Simon-I understand that without any new evidence (the dress is not evidence yet) there is a rehash of what we already know. Nancy is Nancy and she’s doing her best to keep the show going. It isn’t probably what she wants to do right now but like everyone else in this case she is being hammered for talking about it. Geez, I don;t even think Casey gets the verbal beating you give to Nancy and Leonard Padilla. Leonard Padilla is an intelligent, thoughtful and duped guy. Remember that Casey will take every one down with her.
This is a serious day for everyone concerned. I doubt that Jose Beaz will meet the standard/criteria for a capital case so that’s one person who could possibly be “saved” from this horrendous circus. He may be too blinded by the bright lights to take an insightful analysis of his defense and odd statements. He doesn’t realize that “silence has a melody all its own”.
What makes Nancy Grace’s reporting (or lack thereof) so important to you now? This case is in the hands of the Grand Jury and the DAs office-they are not fooling around with this dangerous person again. 500K didn’t keep her out of jail and today they are going to make absolutely certain that she has no bond options.
If you want to critique a fellow reporter don’t make it so rough. She has a sterling win record as a DA in Alabama and quite a following on her show. Nobody has to agree with her all the time but when they do disagree make room for a little forgiveness.

After more than an hour with an Orange County grand jury, George Anthony has completed his testimony. Anthony appeared somber as he waited for the elevator to take hm back downstairs. All the while he held a plastic folder with his missing granddaughter Caylee Marie Anthony’s picture on the front.
“Mr. Anthony answered all the questions he was asked,” said his attorney Mark NeJame, “Beyond that we’re really not allowed to comment.”
We’ve also seen the canine handler whose cadaver dog “hit” on the back of Casey Anthony’s car and the Anthony’s back yard.
One court deputy said she believes there are about a half dozen witnesses to testify. It’s also believed that this is the only case the grand jury is hearing.

I totally agree with the above post. Nancy has beaten the horse beyond dead. There are so many other cases that should be on the news to help out other victims. When it goes to trial then we can bring it back. It’s the same old thing every night and I think it’s losing interest. I even e-mailed the Nancy Grace show to say, “enough is enough”. Don’t give the Anthony’s anymore news time, that is what they want the attention of the media!!
I think we are all taking our minds off what really is important here. If you are sick of Nancy Grace, don’t watch her. From the first day I heard of this story, I was hooked. I have a daughter Caylee’s age and every day I look at my daughter, I think of Caylee. I think of how her life was cut short, and she will not have the childhood memories we all had. Or, how scared she must have been in the hands of her own mother. It reminds me to cherish my children, spend the extra time with them, and keep them safe. We all know the media wants ratings, however, Nancy Grace, I believe, cares personally about this case having 2 children of her own. Casey will get what is coming to her. I just can’t grasp how her parents support her even having the thought that their daughter MURDERED their grandchild.

I’m actually starting to think she may just walk after all. I sure hope I’m wrong.
Bashing her and others just shows what you hate most about yourself. You first bashed CNN, for what, not giving you a job? Then NG, why, because you are not as famous as she? Then the bounty hunter? Maybe because he has more inside info then you could ever have? Being a reporter does not mean you speak poorly of others, it means you REPORT the news. And I don’t think you would know that NG reports the same info every night unless you are tuning in every night to watch her. Instead of bashing everyone involved in or reporting on this case, why don’t you find some new info to report. Or better yet, go to Florida and search for this little girl yourself.

Ever since cable started the 24/7 news, we have been bombarded with repetitiveness of all news stories. Even on the local stations, we find the same film being shown during the day and night. How much news is really NEW from minute to minute?
Nancy Grace and Greta Von Susteren have been the frontrunners in their “dog on a bone” method of reporting news. Can we forget Greta in the Bahamas during the Natalee Holloway case? She did everything except move in with that family. So, we should be used to these types of “news” shows. Thank God that Greta has dropped the Casey Anthony debacle. Why offer attention to that child killer? Just tell us when something NEW happens.
Nancy Grace does “beat the horse” and is one of the more “non-update ” update shows. If nothing new happens in a particular day, what can she possibly have to offer us if she insists on keeping her show focussed on the same case day after day? You can say the same thing in different ways a thousand times, but it still remains the SAME.
I would like to see these shows keep us abreast of NEW revelations of one case, while bringing us different cases as they move along. There are thousands of missing children and adults out there, why concentrate totally on one person?
Look at John Walsh and his success in helping find people. Same with Mark Klaas. These men get out there and really find people. They don’t operate under the umbrella of “entertainment”. Their only goal is to find people. Each of them had the horror of their child being kidnapped and murdered. They know the importance of only REAL facts and information being handed out daily, rather than go over and over the same tired details each day.
I have nothing against Nancy Grace, but I think she could heed the constructive criticism from Simon and others. She has the power of being “out there” and able to influence many people to get out and LOOK for missing people. Lets hope she starts broadening her “news”, maybe spend less time with “experts”, she interrupts them constantly anyway!
After watching the video of George Anthony after his Grand Jury testimony, it brings us back to what this case is all about. Its ONLY about a beautiful innocent child who was betrayed and murdered by her own mother. If Nancy Grace wants to offer us anything tonite, how about a silent, montage of pictures of Caylee and other missing children? Lets show the respect to this lost child and others out there without a voice to protect themselves.
I hope we all do what George Anthony asked us to do. Think of Caylee at 11 pm tonite. No matter how he has been behaved or portrayed in the past months, he is a heartbroken father and grandfather. He did an extremely hard thing today. Even though his daughter killed her own daughter, he can’t not love that daughter. Lets join him in prayer for his beloved grandaughter. Let the courts do their job and let us all say a prayer for this little girl, who was robbed of her life by her own trusted mother.
Heartbroken–You said it all. Many of you have been fair and balanced-I hate to use that phrase but it’s true in this case. Greta did work hard and so did all the wonderful woman on Court TV when news of Lacy Peterson was getting sadder and sadder each day. Beth Karas, Nancy Grace, and others all were out there getting the latest and above all putting a human face on all of these horrific crimes. Dear sweet Natalie will never be forgotten as a result of their reporting. What good does it do to slam CNN? Nothing. Who cares about them? They are not part of this story; they didn;t participate nor should they be criticized for their silence. Nancy feels deeply about this case. She explains legal issues like a pro. She isn’t just a pretty face.
Elaine has a good point that all of us would agree with: Sure we would all like the latest news but if there isn’t any, I for one, am glad that Casey’s name is out there and as a consequence maybe she can feel some genuine feelings for her darling daughter. Right now she’s crying because she got caught.
This poor unfortunate family, no matter how you feel about them is going through hell.
I ask the good Lord to give this family acceptance and redemption.
If it would not be for Nancy Grace and all her sidekicks this mother would getting away with murder. If there is a conviction it’s because Nancy Grace would not leave it alone this could of been swept under the carpet like so many cases of children who go missing I just wish that she could do this for every missing child. Hats off to Nancy Grace and her team they did such a good job in this murder.

As far as the Nancy Grace thing.. I am thrilled that anyone and everyone has kept talking about Caylee. I too am a single 22 year old with an almost 3 year old daughter who lives with her parents. Casey is not a person under stress who snapped. She is a monster. So we need to talk about Caylee. She was a baby and she was harmed (murdered!) by her own mother, and she is still missing. I think that every parent who kills their child should get the hounding that Casey has. Say it over and over on every channel: YOU KILLED YOUR BABY AND WE WILL NOT LET YOU GET AWAY WITH IT. As far as I’m concerned, Casey Anthony should be executed at PrimeTime, live on every major network. Maybe it will scare other “parents” into not killing their children.
And now, I must say, how absolutely grateful I am that Casey in in jail, without bail, and facing charges. I was so afraid they wouldn’t be able to indict her. Thank God for this first sign of real hope.
For Caylee, this is for you! Because unfortunately every other mother loves you more than your own ever did. But while she may have hurt you, know that we’ve caught her and she won’t get away with it. And we will always love you.

Mandi - it’s true about the enabling but I’m sure it’s hard when you are raising a sociopath. She might have been born that way. And its really difficult to handle some kids. Parents are more limited these days with all the other influences and options. And a really good liar wears anyone down. She’s only been an “adult” for four years technically.

C has already been seeing a shrink, remember? To deal with her daughter. I think she has her own personality problems that taught c some tricks. I never liked it when she threw her daughter under the bus to jesse or made those comments to tony. they are absolutely true but they were just too immature for a mother to make about her own child. I think C is emotionally about as old as a teenager. She could have gotten tough love about it and just kicked her out on her butt and told her to get her act together instead of berating her all the time for being such a loser.

Catherine: I have a question for you. Figured you might have some good insight since your former bf was an attorney. First of all, I think Nancy Grace said that M wouldn’t be allowed to represent herself and the defense attorney’s agreed with her. Who’s decision is it for her to represent/or not represent herself. Does a judge have to decide? Second question is, can she change her mind mid-trial and ask for representation?

I wanted the focus back on Caylee, and when I watched people decide to leave it wasn’t important for me to stand my ground so i stopped typing I was still here.

Thank you so much for your email regarding the search for dear Caylee. It
is very sincerely appreciated.
As always, the search for Caylee has always been, and will continue to be
only about Caylee. Nothing less, and nothing more. At this time, Tim has
looked over the areas that remain to be searched, along with areas that
need to be searched in the Jennifer Kesse case. He has determined that we
need to give more time for the water to recede.
We will be returning to continue the search for Caylee, and to search for
Jennifer, within a few weeks. We hope it will be in November. A member of
our organization is giving up their entire week of vacation this week to
do mapping for us to prepare us for the search. With resources so limited,
we felt that this would better enable us to “hit the ground running”, and
use the resources we have in a more efficient manner when we return. We
ARE NOT giving up on searching for Caylee. Our focus remains on finding
her and bringing her home.
Right now, we will be focusing on other cases that need our immediate
attention and where environmental conditions are right for the searches.
We have 3 pending cases in North Carolina and will be proceeding on those
immediately. We will be back in Orlando soon. Please watch our website and
the local news for announcements about our upcoming search plans.
Again, thank you for your support. Every lost person deserves to come
home. We will do all we can to ensure that Caylee is brought home.
