Joe Lieberman may have made history last night. Lieberman, a Democratic senator from Connecticut, defeated his opponents to regain his seat — after losing the primary election. Lieberman garnered 50 percent of the vote with Ned Lamont, who beat Lieberman in the primary, receiving 40 percent. Republican Alan Schlesinger trailed with only 10 percent of the vote.
Some have criticized Lieberman for leaving his party and running as an Independent, calling him an “integral part of the GOP’s bully machine”, and others say he’s just not a nice man, but the residents of Connecticut disagree. The majority had enough faith in him and agreed with him enough to elect him to another term in the U.S. Senate. It’s up to him now to prove those voters right. The state of Connecticut — and the country — will see in due time.
Some say it was “unfair” for Lieberman to run as an Independent, but whoever said politics was fair?

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackThose who say it was unfair for Lieberman to run as an independant obviously missed some of the News recently. Lieberman was abandoned by the Democrats, and left with no choice. He follows his conscience - not partisan politics and the public knows it. That’s why he earned his seat back. The Democrats that dumped him gave him a standing ovation when he returned to the Senate.
