It is good to read about the Islam from the original sources instead of throwing the words.
Please don’t judge on a religion based on some people behaviors.

Adam, there are many articles from numerous sources to support that statement. If it pains you I will post them all. Point is the facts, not so much who printed it

It's a shame that the "Take a look at Britain and what is happening there" page you link to is actually an article written (as mentioned right at the bottom) by a supporter of the British National Party. The BNP are extreme right, bordering on being neo-Nazis, and the British Tories will have nothing to do with them. You'd do better to find something similar from an opinion piece in the Daily Telegraph or something.

The problem with Islam is that it is not just a religion, it is a totalist ideology. Allah is not just a God to pray to, he has laid down rules for every walk of life, social, economic, military, - everything. A Muslim is bound to abide by these 'God sent' rules and if they are a true and devout Muslim it is unthinkable that they would place man made, secular law, enacted by democratically elected governments, above the laws of God. This is why Islam represents a direct threat to secular democracy and is incompatible with it.

The comment about women being granted more rights in Islam made me laugh. The right to wear a Burka? The right to half the inheritance that a man is entitled to? the right to be raped and consequently stoned to death for adultery if you cannot find four male witnesses to the crime? The right to be beaten? The right to be 'owned' by a man and treated like cattle.

He needs to wake up and smell the coffee.

This article was not written with intolerance, or condemnation. It was written to enlighten, and provoke discussion. When opposing views come together and find peace, is much different than one side forcing the other to understand, at the point of a gun, knife, or bomb.

I would say that some of your thoughts on Islam are correct. But having lived in Indonesia for a number of years which is 85% Muslim I would say they you are guilty of generalizing to much.

To condemn an entire religion based on the the behavior of its fundamentalist fringe is a bit unfair. In would be like condemning all of Christianity based on the behavior of the intolerant religious right in the US.

In Indonesia the brand of Islam that is practiced by the majority of Muslims is a more tolerant version. Which is not to say that there is not a fundamentalist fringe represented by the FPI (Muslim Defenders Front), Abu Bakar Bashir and the Bali Bombers.

Through out the Islamic World there has been a rise of the extreme Wahabi branch of Islamic thought. Most of it bought and payed for by the Saudi Government. So while this may be disquieting in should be understood as a reaction to Globalization of culture. It is quite similar in many respects to the Protestant Reformation that swept the west in the 16th and 17th century and caused the Pilgrims to travel to the new world when Europe rejected their Taliban like beliefs.

This brand of intolerant Islam will slowly die out as it is discredited by its extremist practitioners and by the slow drip of Western Culture eroding the hold of religion.

We are all human beings before we are fuklly fledged 'religious'. The purpose of 'innocence' as in children of God is to be as little children before their Heavenly Father.Restored iinocence is a Grace of God; it cannot be forced on anyone; nature has other ways, which are more gentle, telling and lasting than brutality in any alleged religion.

Everything written in this article is backed up with facts, and real life incidents. I admit that there are peaceful followers of the Quran. They are not the ones this article is about. I am not interested in learning of the Quran. I have my own religion. Instead of ignoring the radicals of your religion and the damage they do to it, one might consider doing something about it and preserve the true nature of Islam. If it is different than preached by the minority.

Once I read you say "We are a peaceful people, but we kill women if they don’t behave." I know it's going to be a bias article with no knowledge of Islam. Wake up my friend, tell me one single religion which gives more rights to women then Islam. Remember you cannot blame a religion for what is happening in Middle East or Canada you got to go to source that is Holy Quran. Now check out the rights women have in Islam and compare to your religion and then e-mail me. Here is the link

One could equate this topic with abortion, or gay rights. Something that not many politicians will want to get involved in. I'm sure it would not be politically correct to bring this subject to the center of scrutiny. The peaceful Muslims will be outraged and demand an apology. And the radicals will be silent and wait for everything to blow over, and then strike. If we don't do something to prevent it from growing like it has in the UK, we will be facing daily bombings, and terrorist attacks in our cities.

Good post. Important for people to wake up. Some complain that Christianity is intolerant. But the earliest followers of Jesus Christ were never violent. Jesus told Peter to put down his sword. For centuries, they were the ones that peacefully went to their deaths in defence of Jesus Christ. Howver, in the middle ages, when having power in the Roman Catholic church meant having political power around the world, greedy people, not followers of Jesus, fought to be Bishops and Popes and passed laws to control non-Catholics. Does anyone want to return to that time? Islam foundationally doesn't tolerate disagreement with their religion and that continues. Non-Muslims are frequently murdered in Islamic countries today. The expectation is that others conform to Islam or be punished. Very frightening.
