Mike: Taranto is scheduled to appear on "Fox & Friends" at 8:52 a.m. EDT, so check out the interview to see if he "oys" his way through it and tell me what you attribute the vocal tic to. I'm stumped - especially I've seen one or two interviews with him where he didn't once make that odd sound. But most of the time he does.

I think the "my friends" is a vocal tic, like Sarah Palin's "also" and Barack Obama's "I-I-I." Whatever happened to good old fashioned "um" or "uh"? It's best not to have to use any vocal crutches, but at least "um" and "uh" are not super-noticeable.

The strangest vocal tic I have heard in someone who doesn't stutter or have Tourette's Syndrome (I'm assuming) is OpionionJournal editor James Taranto's. Instead of "um" he repeatedly makes a vocalization that sounds something like "oy," but not exactly. The next time he's on The Wall Street Journal Report check it out. Or there are videos of him on the WSJ Web site. Maybe you have heard this specific vocal tic before and can tell me if there is a medical condition or whatever.

Stiletto,

I didn't like the way it was run, too many restrictions.

I believe the ones who are not committed, the independent voters, swing voters may represent those who may very well make the difference in this election.

McCain seemed lost, roaming around the stage, looking down and repeating himself, "my friends","my friends", "my friends".
Why does he assume he had any "friends" he didn't know anyone at the town hall.
