De Luna advanced after a nerve-wracking 10-8 victory over Nick Van Den Berg of the Netherlands at the Philippine Internatonal Convention Center Wednesday.
De Luna, a 22-year-old player from Pasig City who finished third in the 2006 PHilippine National Championship which allowed him a slot in the tournament, will face whoever wins between Vicent Facquet of France and and Lee Kun-Fang
Peña defeated Louis Condo of Australia, 10-7, while Alcano beat compatriot Robert Gomez, 10-1.
Peña will face either Marcus Chamat of Sweden or Fu Che-wei of Chinese Taipei.
Alcano is in for a tougher battle as he is expected to face-off with either Reyes or Orcollo.
Hungary’s Vilmos Foldes also made to the round of 32 with a 10-7 win over Mexican veteran Ernesto Dominguez.
Foldes’s will soon be going against Vietnam’s Luong Chi-dung who defeated Nien Rong-chih with 10-7 scoreline.
China’s Li He-wen, who was virtually an unknown, defeated Chilean Alejandro Carvajal 10-5.
