Hi all!

Recently I had an opportunity to review a new book from Kathleen Beisel – Eat Your Way to Natural Good Health. This is not exactly a diet book, more of a lifestyle change than anything else, which relies on using the natural, healing properties of normal vitamins and minerals in unprocessed natural foods.

Beisel is a Clinical Nutrition Consultant who began studying the effects of a healthy diet on the body back in 1983 and has remained healthy enough that she has never been sick nor taken any medication since then. Her healthy life style gained attention and has encouraged others to change their own eating and exercise habits for the better. This book continues that tend by sharing her wealth and breadth of knowledge with her readers.

As a person who has gone on and off a number of diet in the last 10 years or so, I know how difficult it is to lose weight and keep it off. Most popular nutrition experts these days (including Beisel) would rather we not focus on a diet as a short term fix, but rather as a long term change in how we live and view the foods we eat.

The book includes chapters on abdominal fats and stress, balancing meals for weight loss, the downside of skipping breakfast, benefits of drinking water, and much more.

The most interesting bits to me were the detailed list of foods with medicinal effects in Chapter 8. She goes into a great deal of information about the functions, sources, and benefits of all the key elements and vitamins that you should have in your diet. And then in Chapter 14, she details what foods you should eat to address various health problems. As a long-time sufferer of insomnia, it was nice to see a different approach than simply taking a sleeping pill.

She also goes into great detail at the end of the book with a set of sample meal plans for a week of healthy eating.

If you are looking for a new approach to your health that incorporates natural foods, this is a great book to get you started. It’s quite obvious that Beisel has a great deal of experience and knowledge on the topic and wants to see her readers succeed!
