I agree, this is an excellent article. I know that Republicans have always held a "hands-off" view about markets. Still recent history gives failing grades to the Dems as well. It would help if Congress was not so corrupt.

Ranjit this is the best article I have ever read on this web site. Thank you for your thoughts. I hope that you write more on this subject and others to share this paticular issue with others.

My two cents on this is that our government is bailing out companies like AIG call it a loan but it is what it is a bailout. Whats worse our government is not in the financial position to bailout companies when it is already in a financial crises oweing trillions of dollars.

The whole system is based on a "free market" that mostly Republicans and right wing think tanks advocate. Less regulation and more free market seems to be the main theme of the Republican party and it's backbone thinktanks. Well it seems like it's failing people are inherently greedy and will take advantage of so-called loopholes and work to line there personal pockets before the interests of it's own corporation or the interests of society. Now the McCain camp is talking about regulation where he has spent a life time fighting against. McCains campaign bus is filled with lobbyists and those who have worked against corporate regulation now hypocrate McCain is talking about regulating the corporations? I hope the masses are not fooled again by the Republicans.

Yes we can point the finger at Democrats for helping perverse the system, but by in large it is the Republican ideiology that got us into this mess.

Our system can not be based on trust and freemarket alone, regulation must be revamped. More thoughtful regualation, close loopholes, stop corporations from writing laws especially Corporations who take advantage of new laws to the detriment of society.

No I'm not Communist, I am for Capitalism but am sick and tired of Corporate America taking advantage of the people, taking our tax money that our budget can't afford.

We are simply sick and tired of being sick and tired!
