I’ve had a couple of concussions in my time (broomball and football, both in college), but I have never lost my memory due to anything. I could never imagine suffering from amnesia. It puts me under enough stress to simply forget small, easy things like what I wanted to have for supper tonight or how the lyrics to a Josh Rouse song go. To lose all my memories would literally cause me to implode under all the stress. Now there’s a new film out about retrograde amnesia and a woman who’s learning to live with it.
Starting this September 23rd, now available on DVD from ABC Studios and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment comes the first season of the show that’s all about second chances and learning who we really are. Samantha Who? – The Complete First Season is ready to burst into your living room, fresh out of a coma, and turn your life upside down. Bring home this fantastic television adventure today!
Sam Newly wakes up from a coma and has forgotten all of her memories. Now she’s rebuilding relationships with her parents, hanging out with the only two friends she has, working a job she hates, being dumped by her boyfriend and trying to piece everything back together with the help of her ex-boyfriend and her friendly doorman. Sam discovers that she was a mean, terrible person obsessed with getting ahead at any cost and she’s appalled that she turned into that. Now she wants to change and she’s trying to find out if that’s possible. This show stars Christina Applegate, Jennifer Esposito, Jean Smart, Kevin Dunn and the ever wonderful Barry Watson.
The special features included in this DVD boxed set are a whole reel full of hilarious bloopers, a selection of deleted scenes, optional audio commentary from creators and stars and a hilarious insert called “Sam’s Survival Guide.â€
I have always like Christina Applegate. She was the only reason I ever watched Married With Children and whatever else she’s been in during these intervening years. She’s gorgeous, completely hilarious and is always capable of playing a person I could certainly relate to. I was, in what’s becoming an anthem about the shows ABC is releasing lately, completely surprised by this show. It’s much more of a serious show which examines deep questions about who we are, where we come from and where it is we can hope to go. It is an emotionally appealing and involving show which, in between laughs, nudges us to ask some important questions about our own lives. Who hasn’t wanted to wake up one morning and wonder how we had gotten to where we were and how we had become those people. This show is a wonderful look at the importance of living a good life.
You won’t be asking Who after watching this show.
