Take 6

Very few groups have the ability to cross musical platforms with as much success and as smoothly as Take 6. This group in the 80’s brought a form of music back that had not been heard massively for at least two decades. They have always been rooted in Gospel, and can very well be considered one of the four fathers of Gospel Jazz. There beautiful harmony has been heard on R&B songs as well as jazz tunes. The latest project “The Standard” is a mixture of Gospel, R&B, Jazz and classic Accupela harmony. They cover classics like “Seven Steps To Heaven” by Miles Davis with the help of Al Jarreau, Jon Hendricks and Till Bronner some other special guests are, Ella Fitzgerald, George Benson, Aaron Neville, Brian McKnight. The song that caught my eye was the duet with Ms. Ella Fitzgerald even though we lost her 12 years ago with today’s technology they have her voice and Take 6 sings back up on one of her widely known songs “A Tisket A Tasket” this is reminiscent of when Natalie Cole released a re-mastered version of “Unforgettable” Featuring a duet with he father Nat King Cole. This version of “A Tisket A Tasket” introduces the song to a new audience overall this CD is eclectic and it works Take 6 has done it again.
