i am planning to get it for my daughter, she is going with me to my next well check. she will just barely be 15. although she will not be in the room with me while i am being examined she will get to meet my doctor and become familiar with the gyno visit for her future check ups. i think it is the parent's job to be educated about the vaccine and explain to their daughters that this shot does not protect them from all cervical cancers, strains of HPV, other STD's and of couse pregnancy. daughters need to know the importance of a pap smear and how that effects their health and could save thier life. i talk to my daughter about safe sex, i try to make her know how important not just because of pregnancy but also because of STDs. this vaccine will just be another part of that conversation.
