He should try less fightin' and a little more thinkin'... for a change.
The reason this economy is in the hole, is because we are fighting an unnecessary war. Gosh, if we had spent the money we spent in Iraq, on better security and energy here at home we would have so many more jobs and lower gas prices.
Terrorists must be laughing at us after Bush wasted all our money and invaded the wrong country.
I can't wait to get the hell out of Iraq and start rebuilding our country, instead of someone else's. What a dumbass Bush turned out to be.

38.9 million relative to 500,000 TV viewers is has no relation to the number of convention seats Obama filled as opposed to McCain.

I don't see how one "eradicates" the other.

"OK" I'll give you the " Hurricane Gustav" pardon but a conservative estimate of of the delegate states you mentioned and guests would be 5 to 10 thousand? Who knows that still falls short.

I don't think the whole GOP Convention venue can hold a crowd of 84 thousand anyway.

Given the limited "Gustav" effect at convention
my take is that the showing of GOP members was very weak.

You are forgetting that some of the delegates and their guests from the states affected by Hurricane Gustav were not there - LA,FL, MS and TX.Regardless, the 500,000 more people who watched McCain on TV easily eradicates the 64,000 difference in the number of people watching in person.

Just as the $6.6 billion operating budget of the state of AK dwarfs the $12 million a month that Obama's campaign manager is handling (even though the former community organizer is trying to take the credit the other man's achievement, however small it is).

I found that the difference between Obama and McCains acceptence speech was a difference of 500,000 nationwide TV viewers which is a slim to non difference.

Without the fuzzy math, 20 thousand McCain supporters as opposed to 84 thousand Obama is more than "a couple of convention seats". Given the McCain campaign had months to organize and get supporters to attend it can be seen as a poor showing.

Maybe there were a couple of empty convention seats, Rich, but more people watched McCain's acceptance speech than Obama's:

This week's ratings, with an average of 34.5 million viewers watching the GOP convention over three days, proved people are becoming more interested in what the Republicans have to say. The Democrats had an average audience of 30.2 million over four days, Nielsen said. ...

Nielsen said that 38.9 million people watched McCain accept the GOP nomination Thursday on either ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox News Channel or MSNBC. PBS, which has a more imprecise estimate based on samples in a few big cities, said 3.5 million watched on its network.

Last week, Obama's speech in Denver was seen by 38.4 million on 10 different commercial networks, and an additional 4 million on PBS.

McCain could not even fill the seats at his acceptance speech reaching close to 20 thousand.

Obama's speech had 84 thousand in attendence.

------

Obama lost some Hillary supporters but nothing of significance. On the contrary republicans and independents are at least leaning for Obama not McCain.

--------

McCain may have tried to make a pitch to independents and moderates but I don't think it was effective.

It was a successful convention for McCain. Obama did not reach beyond his base - and even lost some Hillary voters by not choosing her as his running mate. Palin solidified the base for McCain so he was able to make a pitch for moderates and independent voters.

How many years has McCain been been in office?

I thought he should have done a better job in his speech.

Even "Bush's Brain" Karl Rove was not so impressed in his commentary by Fox News at the convention.

He hit a double at best, far from getting one out of the park.
