Thank you for an interesting article. I completely agree that women are not men and should not try to act as such. I believe that women (and men for that matter) should not be sexually active until marriage. Women should not be sexually active because I don't believe women benefit in any way from casual sex. And I believe abstinence is simply the moral thing to do. But please indulge me while I vent a little about women in general, and especially feminists, today.

I have to say that I am SO sick of hearing women complain. It seems they simply live to complain about men. "Men are sexist." "Men ruined my life." "Men oppress women." Men this, men that. It seems that whatever a man does, there are women out there who don't like it.

If a man holds a door open for a woman, there are feminists out there who are insulted by that. If he doesn't hold the door open, there are other women who are insulted by that. Our society is getting so far out of whack that whatever a man does is criticized. He is looked down on simply for existing. What kind of nonsense is that?

I completely believe that the sexes are equal in every way. However I believe that at the root of feminism is women who simply want to be men. Think of it this way: Imagine that the sexes were completely separated into 2 societies with no interaction or contact between them. I would almost guarantee you that the feminists among the women would be the ones who would rise to the power positions in government. And if you were to look at that female civilization 200 years after it was formed (assuming there was some way for them to reproduce), you would find that the society had broken down into what we have in our own society today: half of the female population would have behaviors, roles, and attitudes that the feminists accuse men of using today to oppress women.

Sameness is a dead end. It is diversity that keeps us strong as a species. For example, genetic diversity allows us to weather disease. Without that diversity, one virus could wipe out everyone. Even apart from the obvious needs of reproduction, both male and female are necessary to humanity. Yin and Yang are not only the way of humanity, but the way of the universe itself.

I have a wife and daughter who I love very much. My only wish in this world is to provide for them and for them to be happy. I have no desire to oppress anyone - sexually or otherwise. Let's try to get away from this men vs women thing and realize that men and women were made by God to complement and complete each other. We are two sides of the same coin.

Just because someone might disagree doesn't mean that person is small-minded. I disagree, and I'm just as entitled to my opinion as you are. I don't know why the conservative Christians won't let the feminists like myself (I'm a Christian as well, by the way) have our moment as well. We DO need to be empowered. It's perfectly OK to stay at home, but it is also perfectly OK to choose to have a career, or not to get married at all. I don't want to get married just for the sake of getting married. I will only when I truly find someone I love. I'd hate to think that I had to give up my wonderful job as a special ed teacher to raise my children. I want to wait a good long time. I think the feminist movement has done lots of good things. I think many people are too extreme, and extreme ANYthing is not good (I'm including religious radicals in here too). Nothing is black and white. And no one MAKES women a sexual object. That is their choice. Women know they are sexualizing themselves when they pose for the pornographic photos or movies. We're not being oppressed. Everything is a choice.

I think your right to question who the oppressor really is.
and i have a question for gloria stineman. Why the playboy club? what did that invasion prove for women?
sosiety has gone to hell because now even untrained women have to work-not everyone is good at careers-many children and families suffer from lack of the woman in the home.
if you do manage the home and children there is no social security or compensation later in life. yet a tremendous contribution to society has been made if your efforts were good.
why didn' the womans libbers of the 60's try to first drum up some respect, appreciation and revenue for retirement for what women had been doing forever?

liblive...you are pathetic. You are clearly too small-minded to understand the truth that could come from a non LIBERAL, non HERD-LIKE point of view.
