Who is Sarah Palin, John McCain’s pick to be his running mate?
Soccer mom of five–the latest born in April–and a reformer, Palin played point guard while leading her basketball team to the state championship in high school.

Wikipedia has already updated Sarah Palin’s bio page:
Sarah Louise Heath Palin (born February 11, 1964) is the current Governor of Alaska, and the presumptive 2008 Republican candidate for Vice President of the United States. She is expected to be the second female Vice Presidential nominee representing one of the two major American political parties.
Born in Idaho and raised in Alaska, Palin gained statewide recognition as a championship high school athlete and was the 1984 runner-up in the Miss Alaska pageant. After graduating from the University of Idaho and working as a sports reporter at an Anchorage television station, Palin served two terms on the Wasilla, Alaska, City Council from 1992 to 1996, was elected mayor of Wasilla in 1996, and ran unsuccessfully for Lieutenant Governor in 2002. After charging ethical violations by state Republican Party leaders, she won election in 2006 by first defeating incumbent governor Frank Murkowski in the Republican primary, then former Democratic Alaskan governor Tony Knowles in the general election.
On August 29, 2008, presumptive GOP nominee John McCain chose Palin as his nominee for vice president.
Palin brings some excitement to the Republican ticket and is expected to blunt some of the “bump” Barack Obama was anticipating in the polls after the Democratic National Convention.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackJohn Mccain just won the Presidential . He could not have made a better choice..Step back Hillary. We now have a real woman on board. a decent woman and mother…
The Alaskan landscape may be littered with the bodies of those who crossed Sarah Palin, as this entry asserts, but I never heard of her and I doubt if very many people in Hawaii or the “lower forty-eight” have heard of her.
Barack Obama may be light on experience and accomplishment, but he had the brains to pick a guy who is well known, despite coming from a tiny, politically insignificant state.
I would like to know how Ms. Palin has worked with the recently indicted Senator Stevens.
I am sorry but as a mom of a special needs son (CP) I cannot in my wildest dreams imagine this woman campaigning for VP when she has a downs syndrome infant. She has no idea how much special needs children need to be with their parents/family. Dumping this infant off on caretakers absolutely makes me sick. Obviously Palin will be required to do a great deal of traveling whether she is campaigning, being the VP, or heaven forbid the CIC. I am glad she is a career mom, but I think that she has no idea how much she will need to be there for this precious child. My heart breaks for the baby.
Is there even any record this woman has ever BEEN to Washington? I am afraid that someone that would choose a person with this limited experience to be so close to being the president is an outrage. To think the the mayor of Mayberry would be so close to leading the country in such a time of war, huge deficiet, and termoil is absolutly frighteneing. I am truly afraid of this decision.
I live in a COUNTY with a population of 730,000 and Alaska has a population of 670,000. I would not trust my county government to now lead the country. This is appauling.
John McCain just lost it. He’s up against an expert in the constitution who is out to restore it. And he comes up with an oil darling with 18 months in office and a scandal under her belt. Not to mention a total lack of understanding of the issues based on interviews I’ve heard.
She is the opposite of Hillary on every issue and yet McCain thinks enough Hillary supporters are going to be dumb enough to be played by him? Guess again.
I read in an article that Ted Stevens and Sarah Palin’s husband Todd had business dealings apparently including the TransCanada pipeline…which is not exactly truthful what Palin herself said about her ‘as governor’ aptitude for getting that deal…..isn’t even finished as of yet, is blatantly an untruth. That is why it’s important to realize why she was chosen. This deal TCP deal had been pushed by Makowski…..as governor, not Palin as much, but the Canadian Conservative Leadership, along with Alberta had to come to a decision with Native land, which held it up for years. Finally, they are at the next step, but not at all finished with the details, nor is it signed off…
Todd Palin had some financial dealings with Ted Stevens for different Oil franchises in Alaska, plus the negotiations with TCP.
Working on the governments dole, without being a government employee????? Sarah Palin said he worked as a laborer at BP only??????
Isn’t anyone angry over all of this? Picking Sarah Palin as VP is insulting and frightening.
