Jim Leach, moderate Republican, addressed us after Kennedy went off. Remember all that energy from the Kennedy speech? Yeah, bye-bye. Way to drain the energy out of the room, Jim. (Apparently he’s a secret Republican operative. Good work, Jim!

Stop wasting our time reading these posts if it does not have any substance.
You even agree that it is “too dull to blog about”, so don’t.
Not the most effective speech of the night, but certainly the most important. We will need lots more Republicans, if we want to win the election.
Bob Hayes was right about it de-energising the crowd: it asked people to think, instead of feeding them revival-style preeching to the converted.
Hence, even the placement was good: After Teddy’ brave rant and before Michelle’s tug at our heartstrings and our hopes.
In short, Bob, this was good theatre and it might even bring in some voters that the others cannot reach.
I agree that it was the most important speech at the convention. What it lacked in energy, it made up for in content. While other speeches were emotional pleas to support Obama, Leach’s speech was educational and full of specific reason’s why it is so important to take this next presidency away from the Republicans –an all the more poignant message coming from a Republican not yet ready to totally give up on his party. Read it or listen to it again if you didn’t quite get the message the first time around.
Truly one of the most important speeches of the year. He represents those, apparently few Republicans who understand the importance of working with others–yes, that’s the Democratic Party sometimes–and that, on many, many scores, DubYuh is a very sorry excuse for a republican–merely mouthing words similar to conservative views, and propped up, pretending to be a “leader.”
Leach came very close to calling DubYuh a complete charlatan.
