To Pamelab52:

For starters, I'll name a powerful politician who did not come up through machine politics and she grew up a few miles outside the city limits in Park Ridge Illinois--her name is Hillary Clinton. While Hillary was running for student council president, growing up in a moderate Republican home (probably reading Ms. Magazine by flashlight), her nemesis was hanging out with Bill Ayers and Rev Wright-Chicago Powerbrokers.

But first, Obama had to get a foothold--challenge the machine using the old trick of knocking your opponent off the ballot so you run unopposed. When that worked so well, he and his supporters used the same play to knock out republican Jack Ryan. David Axelrod siezed the moment (and Ryan's obvious weakness) to tip off the Chicago Tribune about Ryans sealed divorce papers...and the rest is dramatic history. Jack went down in flames and the Republican's had no candidate.

OMG. I grew up in Chicago--very close to the University of Chicago neighborhood--home of Obama and a the dense collection of far left democrats-- and I know Obama is pure machine politics--but worse, with former weathermen terrorists as mentors. Even Richie short shanks Daley can't claim that kind of power. Daley had to reconcile with the 60 forces that opposed his father. Wake up people to machine politics.

Does any politician coming into the game start by challenging the powers that be right off the bat? It seems to me, most politicians work within their machines to gain some footing (power) before they can actually start to make a difference. Everything combed through here about Barack Obama could be applied to just about any politician Republican or Democrat, and the lice on the guys head would be found in the comb. No one is exempt. Show me one. It's a hardball game, and if Obama works within the machine, he's done it well with not too many bad outcomes. He's maturing into a possible great leader. Lincoln had his history too, so did all the great leaders, either side of the aisle, we can dig dirt on them all.

Obama is corrupt, as is Hillary Clinton and John McCain. The corporate interests hand picked the candidates, that's why we have such a lousy bunch of them.

This is an empty fiction book of fables.

Barack has nothing to do with "Chicago Machine Politics".

Look at Mayor Daley and the Daley Dynasty or Congressman Dan Rostenkowski and his rein as the the Chairman of the Congressional Appropriations Committee.
