In a terrifying trend that has been brought to the attention of English health officials, pregnant teenagers in the UK are deliberately smoking during their pregnancies because they believed that the warnings about smoking leading to ‘low birth weight babies’ would mean that the deliveries would be less painful for them. They never even considered that it could KILL their babies. Health Minister Caroline Flint stressed the issue highly with the statement “Childbirth is no less painful if your baby is low weight.” And had the thought echoed by Dr Virginia Beckett of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists who said “Some teenagers tell me they think that smaller babies mean less painful births. But the size difference is too small to make any difference. Giving birth is always going to hurt.”
