Back in December, Young stepped forward, claiming he was the father of Rielle Hunter soon-to-be-born baby. From the National Enquirer’s UPDATE: JOHN EDWARDS LOVE CHILD SCANDAL!:
A former “Director of Operations” for Edwards’ campaign, Young’s last official position with the campaign was “North Carolina Finance Director.” He left that job about a month ago - about the same time Rielle settled in Chapel Hill.
A source close to Young vehemently denies that he funneled campaign money to Rielle - who drives a BMW SUV registered in Young’s name.

Former Edwards campaign Director of Operations, Andrew Young, gives Open Marriage advocates something to cheer about.
The 41-year-old former “North Carolina Finance Director” of the Edwards campaign has stepped forward and not only claimed the “alleged” love child of John Edwards as his but has also moved his six months pregnant mistress, Reille Hunter, into the same multi-million dollar gated community as his own wife and children.
No word from Young’s wife on how well she’s adjusted to the new neighbor, the ‘other woman’ and the impending “bundle of joy.”
According to the National Enquirer, the bald-headed stepchild of the MSM, an unnamed source claims Young, and his ‘first’ family, his legally married wife and legitimate children, had dinner with his pregnant paramour in her newly acquired abode.
Hunter and Young’s purported relationship was perhaps the strangest item in a strange cover story. More from December’s Enquirer:
A day later, in a shocking twist, the attorney for Mr. Young issued a statement that Young fathered Rielle’s baby!
“Andrew Young is the father of Ms. Hunter’s unborn child,” declared his Washington, D.C.-based attorney.
“Sen. Edwards knew nothing about the relationship between these former co-workers, which began when they worked together in 2006.
“As a private citizen who no longer works for the campaign, Mr. Young asks that the media respect his privacy while he works to make amends with his family.”
So just how has Andrew Young been doing in the seven-plus months since the Enquirer published its allegations? Has he made “amends with his family? The same family that played host to Rielle Hunter for dinner at their home, according to the Enquirer?

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackSeems like Radar just did a piece mentioning rumors of Cheri Young’s growing dissatisfaction regarding the whole “love child” situation; thus, I figured I’d jump right in there with Radar and do a little Cheri googling/investigating and I’m pleased to report that it appears the hush/cover-up money (allegedly) being given to the (alleged) newly-minted Santa Barbara residents, Andrew and Cheri Young, may be able to be put to some very good use. It seems that back in December 2006 Young’s wife Cheri was up for an Oprah challenge. According to a paper called “The Pilot” (see: http://archives.thepilot.com/December2006/20061221/news/columns/20061221chappell.html):
“…Andrew Young of Raleigh has worked with former Sen. John Edwards, who grew up in Robbins. Mickey Brown, the mayor of Robbins, received a call from Young’s wife asking for an unusual donation. Cheri Young, Andrew Young’s wife, was one of the audience members on Oprah a few weeks ago who received $1,000 and then turned it into more than $30,000 in cash and gifts to help the children of military families,” Brown said. “I know them, and she called me and I asked could she or would she help here. She has started and has raised money in conjunction with Clare Ruggles at Northern Moore Family Resource Center to help needy children here.”
Apparently Cheri was in the studio audience the day Oprah was road testing her “Big Give” show concept and gave each audience member a thousand dollars and challenged them to go out and do some good with it. It was even reported that Oprah wanted the audience to (according to the Washington Post) videotape their efforts at doing good with said money and to send the footage to her as material for a future show. I wonder if Cheri sent in any footage? Anyways, the main reason I bring this article up is that it shows how well-known and entrenched both Andrew and Cheri seemed to have been in North Carolina and I just can’t believe that they would up and move to Santa Barbara in order for Andrew to be closer to Rielle and “his” child.

the family is being paid off BIG TIME by edwards who is loaded (multimillionaire) to be the “father” of rielle’s baby girl who is actually john edward’s baby girl. cheri is really handling this well! wow! of course cheri is in on it. if rielle is getting $15K/month, god only knows what the young’s are getting….$30K/month? this is why probably john edwards ended the scholarship thing at that small school worth $600K’s. cause he needs the cash now to pay off his mistress/bastard child/and close friend/accomplice to keep the scandal at bay and not have his wife knock him upside the head. what a douchebag.

JE is just another crook who made all his millions chasing ambulances, that is what he was, an ambulance-chasing lawyer.
I do feel bad for his wife and her children with him, that’s about all I feel sorry for.

For all his talk about *family values* over these years - some family values he holds, eh? I don’t care if men cheat in life, plenty of women cheat too. One learns to do the right thing by the age of 5. Evidently JE never learned, nor has John McCain.
Nancy Reagan hates McCain because she has all the goods on him, as she was and still is best friends with his first wife. Interesting that nobody reams him (a GOP’er) about what all he did regarding his first wife when he came back from Vietnam and she was disfigured due to a bad accident plus she gained a lot of weight from being ill back then.

John Edwards had me fooled for the past few years. I thought he was a good guy. What he has done to his wife is self-centered and cruel. I went through this and know exactly how she feels, but she has her pain compounded by another life altering situation. At least I have my health. She is the only person in this mess with any integrity. He is a lying, manipulating jerk. With Bill Clinton, that was bad but not like this. JE kept a relationship with this woman after he came clean to his wife, moved her to North Carolina, funneled money to her, had his friend take the fall, moved them aqain to California, funneled more money to her, and now expects everyone to believe he is not the father? Typical manipulative lawyer. Thinks he can pull the wool over everyones eyes and get away with it with a big fake smile on his face saying look at me…I’m such a good guy… Whose going to vote for you now? Maybe your baby’s momma who to me is just as bad for knowingly messing up another womans life who had enough to deal with. Rielle (Lisa Druck) is slime. J Edwards is slime. I just don’t understand dumb men who risk everything for this. My husband and I lost our entire lives over his affair. TOW tried to ruin me as well. Just like Rielle is trying to do to Elizabeth. Rielle is typical of the type of woman that does this. Desperate to be something she is not, and desperate to get what she wants any way she can no matter who she has to ruin along the way. THAT is the epitome of narcissistic. Both her and JE. My heart goes out to Elizabeth Edwards. She did not deserve this. You have to wonder what JE’s kids are going to think of him as they become adults (one is) knowing what he did to their mother (in front of the world) while she was dying of a terminal disease. That is going to be his Karma. And that poor new baby has to grow up under all of this speculation with a narcissistic mother, and absent father Nice job, and nice family values JE has portrayed. How embarrassing for JE. Another lying politician who tried to come off like he was something different. And Andrew Young must be so insecure that he is willing take the fall for this jerk and risk his own marriage? JE is using Andrew Young. Is Andrew Young so star struck with JE that he is willing to ruin his own life? People are funny aren’t they? JE should do the right thing and stop using people to cover up his weakness as a man. That smile just makes me sick now.
I dont understand why you people are comparing Cheri’s Challenge to any of this.
It has absolutely nothing to do with it.
