Are we sure that this guy was not some mind control expiriment ? Isn’t it rather interesting that the RCMP had a code name for the unit? Isn’t also interesting that the RCMP didn’t intervien ? What was the RCMP doing on the bus ? This is shades of mind control like manson, carl purdy, malvo etc….

i agree with what most of the comments said, its stupid to let this a man off with an insanity plea. how many of society’s serial killers have been declared ‘okay’ by psychiatrists? just because youre going through stress or whatever emotion’s pushing you to decapitate, mutilate and snack on someone doesnt give you the excuse to kill someone and get away with it.

and seriously, why did that policeman just stand by and just bloody talk when he could have taken this man down? why didnt ANYONE help? throw a stone or a rock or a bag for goodness sakes instead of just freaking out in a corner!

I am horrified and sick over this. How many times have I rode a bus and never ever thought about being butchered. Why didn’t any help this poor young kid? If it were a plane everyone would have jumped on the sicko. I guess I don’t know what I would have done either. That man deserve’s to live since he wants to die. Live and be tortured everyday. May God help us all

I understand in today’s society, no one wants to put theirself in harm’s way by trying to help another. But it is very hard for me to understand how people could simply rush off the bus while this poor kid is being killed right in front of them. Buses are small and cramped. They would have had to have ran right past the killer and his victim. How could NO ONE have tried to help this kid? There were 35 other people on this bus. It would have only taken 1 person to possibly save this kid. 1 person. That is the hardest thing for me to understand. I am sorry for all those witnesses who were in danger, but I don’t think I could forgive them for their lack of courage and humanity. I have heard many times…”What is this world coming to?” That’s simple. A world where no one gives a **** about anyone unless they are in their small circle of family and friends. Think how that kid’s family and friends feel now. Do you think they are asking why no one helped their son? I would bet the farm on it. One last thing for those witnesses…congrats on making it off the bus alive, too bad everyone didn’t.

We do not know what was his mental status. We do not know what triggered him to do such a gruesome act. We do not know if he has ever done this before. No point in killing this man or beheading “Braveheart” style. He himself testified in the court “Please Kill Me”. It was all out of the ordinary and unexpected. What could one do to prevent this situation? Can one foresee the future? Remember, he did not have a gun or a huge knife. All he had was a paper cutter and scissors. Are we going to implement security checks before boarding a bus? Where do we draw a line? This is an isolated incident. You dont hear about this in the news everyday. This man was mentally deranged and had psychological problems. I am not defending him, but rather implying on the circumstance. A normal person will not go on a stabbing spree and behead a man and start eating him.

Canada needs to start arming themselves, at least here in the U.S you can get licensed to hold a fire arm. I have friends that are licensed and if they were on that bus, that stupid bastard would have had his face splattered all over the window of the seat he was sitting in.

Then maybe all we would be hearing is that a man was in critical or stable condition after being stabbed a couple of times on a Greayhound bus, not being gutted like an animal and then beheaded.

Maybe the guy he killed has a family member in prison. Wouldn’t that be some story to read about. Man kills another man, goes to prison, becomes cell mate with one of the murdered man’s family member, murdered man’s family member gets exstended sentence for gutting cellmate who killed his family member…JUSTICE SERVED…end of story.

This is the craziest thing I have ever heard of. I thought we had heard it all with the hypocritical muslim exstremist cutting peoples heads off, but now this!! This is way out of control. Why did those people not grab that bastard in a head lock, grab his arm, and commence to stomping his head in the ground?.

If the passengers felt to scared to do anything, I at least commend them for holding the door shut. But when the police arrived why was there even a negotiation at all? All this scum bag had was a knife and the police had a three hour stand off…for a knife!! Give me a break!! Why did they not aim and shoot! Thats it, over and done.

If that was done in the U.S most likely the people would have attacked him, or the police would have beat his face in. I know where I am from that bastard would have been dead; eather by a passenger or the cops shooting him, they would not hesitate a minute.

I agree with the above comments; I don’t believe society should be so humane to the totally inhumane. Obviously he has a screwtape of a brain, but must he be excused for this? Oh the poor sick shithead didn’t know what he was doing? So damned what! Some suffering terminally ill patients wish to be let go, he has a chronic mental problem I’ll bet and I’ll also bet he showed signs snd symptoms of sicko behavior before he did that maniac attack on the bus. Did he refuse to take his meds? In the states somewhere it is illegal to mismanage a disability or chronic ailment. If you don’t take some medication to prevent a reaction that could cause you to do harm to others, like have a diabetic reaction while driving because your medication or treatment wasn’t taken beforehand,and there is an accident due to this, the person will be held responisible and charged. If he was known to have mental problems, there could be more than one person held responsible for allowing him out in public. I he is this damned mentally ill, the bloody hell with him!

Regardless of whether Winnipeg is the murder capital of Canada or not, this was a seriously disturbing event. The suspect deserves to be executed Braveheart style. He should be tortured, cut into little pieces, and beheaded just as he did to Tim McLean. Somehow society needs to make an example out of a murderer like this, whether he is crazy or not. Maybe this would make the crazies think twice about acting on their paranoid, schizophrenic, dilusional ideas. If society continues to give a slap on the wrist for these actions and just put him in a cell or give him a lobotomy, there is nothing to scare someone else, with the same potential of insanity, not to act out. Crazy people probably think they are immune to punishment and they can act out as much as they want. The suspect probably didnt stop to think that the actions he was taking could possibly happen to him as well…if it had been a possiblity, he might have thought twice about going through with it.

People have to realize that Winnipeg (where the bus was destined) is known as the murder capital of Canada. It is overrun by gangs and there is a murder or a police killing daily. People instictivly look the other way as a means of self preservation. In Canada no one is allowed to arm themselves except the criminals. Combine this with a loose immigration policy where every low life can set up shop and it is no wonder we have arrived at this point.
