At least one of the attacks in the latest wave of blog shutdowns this past week came from IPs assigned to barackobama.com.
We have reported twice in the last two weeks about the attacks on anti-Obama websites. ["Google, Blogger, Obama: Obamanation Shut Down My Blog!"]] & [BabbaZee's "Anti-Obama Blogs Shut Down by Google, Obamabots"]
Speculation on who was behind the attacks has ranged from “Obama supporters” to “it’s no one, just a glitch” “to “it’s a browser problem”. [Site Meter causing Internet Explorer failure ]. This latter is a completely different issue from the blogs that got shut down by Google/Blogger.
A few liberal blogs and Instapundit have reported there is no connection between this latest wave of blog shutdowns and the Obama camp.
Speculation can now be set aside–at least, in one instance.
We came across this post by MacRanger at MacsMind [Macsmind Hacking UPDATE] yesterday, where Mac presents “one fact that can’t be explained away”.
On July 22-25 Macsmind was DOS’d (Denial of Service) that originated from three IP addresses that are assigned to Barack Obama’s website. This isn’t a theory but was confirmed via law enforcement through an inspection of the site logs from those dates. The IP address in question; 66.39.4.254 66.39.143.229 216.146.206.181, are all registered via “Go Daddy†under the name barackobama.com.
On those dates, beginning at At 5:48PM Central on the 22nd, the hosted server that contained our site was hit by a 1.6 gigabyte flood of illegitimate traffic. The attacks never abated and only stopped when our host provider took us off line.
Spam traffic originating from three IPs assigned to the barackobama.com would seem to be compelling evidence to the disinterested reader. We haven’t been able to reach MacRanger yet, but the real question isn’t “Is the Obama camp involved in this?”
It’s “Will this story be publicized?”

Speculation is one thing, but facts are another. This time however we’ve taken protective measures to prevent this from happening again. Additionally the investigation will continue and appropriate interstate authorities have been notified.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackThis seems like some sort of bullshit. Don’t waste your time or ours on posting along these lines. “Go Daddy” seems like a bit of a fetch, per an official Obama website. Your were doing much better on the Edwards deal.
Whether you agree or not, the information is there. Our original site was locked down all day on July 1.
Others have experienced the same problem. The MacsMind site reported that the IPs were traced to the three at barackobama.com and that law enforcement were notified.
Not sure what part of that you think is “bullshit”.
I’m not saying that Barack Obama himself did this; most likely, it’s some over-zealous workers at his campaign site. There have been other documented shenanigans at the site previously.
At some point, the campaign will have to take responsibility for what happens at its website.

This is the only webpage where I found I could comment. Barack wants fathers to step forward and do more for their families, but is he willing to help the discrimination against fathers in court. A mother can get a court hearing in minutes; it takes months for a father. Child support can be raised easily by state funded agencies, but it can not be lowered unless there is a court hearing, costing thousands to get–most child support payers are fathers, so is that fair? Women turn in dozens of false sexual abuse and physical abuse allegations (coaching their children to repeat the charges and pretend that it happened), and they are not arrested for harassment or anything. One lady in Hamilton MO has had people jailed, arrested, taken to court to defend themselves costing them thousands in attorney costs, and nothing is done to her. Authorities, DSS, Victim advocates know about her, but nothing is done. Can we get some help from Obama, laws changed to include false allegation as a crime, equal access to court, etc?
While it could be somebody from the Obama compaign, step back and think about it, first. Has anybody making definitive statements that it came from one place or another: have you ever mass-mailed anything? Have you ever managed a network?
I have on both parts. To orchestrate a DOS attack, you need to install an application of some sort or another to maintain the continuous attack. The way networks are administered is via user accts, permissions, etc. NO ONE is going to have install permission unless they are TRUSTED.
Now, if you say, oh they hacked the system. Maybe, but if they have the skills to hack the system to get around security to install the app, (I haven’t mention the CPU cyles, memory, etc that a DOS attack consumes, OK? – THAT is noticable. I’d bet you dollars to donuts, if anything unusual happens with the Obama servers, pagers will start go off in numerous places and sys admins will be shutting it down before there’s thousands sent. – but that is if it’s run locally) If an Obama supporter had the chops to hack security and do a DOS attack, they would also have the brains and the chops to not tie it back to Obama, OK?
So, let’s recap:
DOS attack internally: not an amateur. If not an amateur AND an Obama supporter, why tie it back to Obama, use another site. WHAT is the benefit for Obama if a DOS is so easily tracked back to barackobama.com? WHAT would it be? Nothing. NO benefit, so why do it.
This is obviously an anti-obama person who has high jacked the Obama mailserver remotely and used it to DOS the sites. Without seeing the original I couldn’t be sure, but it could be someone spoofed a server to show Obama’s server.
I wish I would have backtracked this story to it’s source before I wasted my time with my last post. But maybe it’ll help understanding. The originator of this story is a nut-job. He no more was told by ‘law enforcement’ what the IP addresses of the DOS initiator were than I’m frigging Santa Claus.
Why would Obama’s campaign attack his pissant blog? He had 30 comments and most of them were copies of a quote with no message and Ms Caffeine Queen , you were one of them. What, did it take 30 comments to get the story picked up, is that what it is.
It pisses me off that you waste your fucking time pulling grade school pranks. Why don’t you learn about Barr and his postions on drug laws, or the Green party candidate and see what she stands for, or Nader, or ANYBODY!
