Do you believe that he is somehow to be found innocent of his crimes and/or complicity in same? These people need to know that he is completely gone. Just ask them. Who knows what web of followers he may still have that remain in communication with him that could do his will while alive and in jail. Allow his victims justice just as Saddam's got justice.
