It is true about the Freewinds. I’ve known about it for almost two years and have been telling anyone that would listen to me about it. The only reason that no mainstream news organizations have picked up on this story is because they still fear being fair gamed by the criminal CULT of scientology. But that will be coming to and end.

It’s later than you think.

There is much worse regarding scientology that blue asbestos.
Since 1950, Hubbard knew that dianetics was unable to give the promised results and was therefore a deceptive fraud. Now, it's more evident than ever before, because the cult forces any potential victim and any "agreeing" victim to sign off special contracts that we can call the Shame Contracts. See what they are here:
www.antisectes.net/honte. some in french some in both languages.
And the worse is that scientology OSA test demonstrates that they "know" that some OCA testees are suicidal... and some have committed suicide indeed. Hundreds.

The scientology management knew for 20 years about the asbestos aboard the 'Freewinds' but ignored the necessity of doing anything about it. They had been informed by a fellow cult member, now an ex-member. The ship has been in dry dock for months now. If you don't believe this I would still advise against accepting any invitation for a party aboard.

Expect sometime in the future, if the cult still exists, a multi action by sufferers of mesothelioma who visited the boat suing the cult for their criminal neglect.

JD - I hear you loud and clear. However, I had seen this story in very reputable news sources and had done a bit of research upon reading it as well.

You're correct in your statement about "true data" in the news.

Nicolette, the reason why the Scientology story is amusing is because is such bull. It only appeared is disreputable gossip rags, when if it was true, it would have been serious news. They used to say take what you read with a grain of salt. These days that grain is about 5 kilos as we wade through the "news" to get any (if possible) true data.

The U. S. House of Representatives is considering a bill to ban asbestos (it is already banned in 40 countries) and provide funding for medical research into effective treatments for asbestos-related diseases, such as mesothelioma, the cancer of the lining of the lungs, abdomen and heart. A ban is not enough as it doesn't help people who are sick, who have been exposed and will become exposed in the future to asbestos already in place. Write your Congressional representative at his/her website or at http://www.banasbestos.us telling him/her to support the bill.

The survival rate for mesothelioma is less than 1%...mesothelioma is essentially a death sentence. In fact, it is so aggressive that the majority of sufferers succumb to the disease in less than two years. I have trouble finding the humor regarding asbestos on a Scientology cruise ship - there is really no humor when it comes to cancer.
