A check at my local library shows the same title was used by two different authors before your Gary Cook. Bill Reno did it in 1989 and Nacy Springer did it in 2003. Now, the fact that two authors used the title before Cook did makes Cook what exactly?

Makes just about as much sense as what you said about Box--doesn't it?

Glad you think the book is so much better. Maybe it is. Wish you had said at least a little bit about what "Blood Trail: A Novel" by Cary Cook is about. I went and looked at the listing on Aamzon and it sounds pretty cliched to me.

If you want to read the real BLOOD TRAIL, read BLOOD TRAIL, by Gary J. Cook (2006). Starred reviews in Publishers Weekly and Booklist. Cook's version is everything that C.J. Box's version wishes that it were. The writing is exponentially better than anything C.J. Box is capable of, and the story and the characters are the real deal. Box is a real jerk for using the same title. No doubt, he is laughing all the way to the bank. If you want real, then read Cook. If you want cartoon nonsense, read Box.
