Genesis is my favourite band and I also like some prog.

Genesis made some of the best prog albums between 1970 and 1976. They were considered the best live band. Phil Collins, with Genesis since late 1970, became known few years later for being one of the best drummers in the rock world.

After Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett departures Genesis changed direction, composing more shorter melodic songs Genesis won more women fans and in a short time they were playing in big stadiums, on this Phil Collins handled very well his solo and Genesis career, for being a workaholic e he’s been paying a big personal price for that, know he wants to be with his kids (it’s more than fair) ...

Tony and Mike are the original members, since 1967, keep the Genesis musical structure in place, Tony composed the more complex and longer songs when the more melodic side is very evident on Mike's songs f.e. Follow you follow me (and Mike and Mechanics songs). Both are quite underrated and the shadow of Phil’s big success is in part responsible for that.

Since 1976 Genesis have been helped by:
- Daryl Stuermer, since 1978, an excellent guitar player (Jean Luc Ponty) who plays bass as well.
- Chester Thomson, since 1976, a fantastic drummer who have played with "Weather Report" and Frank Zappa.
- Bill Bruford, on 1976 he took an holiday with King Crimson to play with Genesis and let Phil Collins made the Trick of the Tail vocal parts.

Genesis is a great band, last time I've seen them in was in Manchester last 7 7 7.
When in Rome DVD is a record of one of the best live shows ever made but is, probably, also a big goodbye for those who still like their music.

I believe that some Genesis music will be played as a kind of "classical" music in the future. The beauty of some Genesis compositions deserves a special place in the future.
