No sooner do I do a story about an ATM machine being ‘liberated’ by a forklift than I find an even sillier ATM story.
Apparently at around 4am this morning a man wearing a motorcycle helmet and wheeling a fridge cart walked into a convenience store in Orange County (L.A.) and calmly loaded the ATM onto the fridge cart and left the store. He then put it in the back of his truck and drove off.
Once again the entire adventure was captured by surveillance cameras, and you can watch this daring robbery for yourself here.
There is no sign of a weapon, and alas there is no audio feed, but the guy serving behind the counter doesn’t seem to react, or even much care. I guess this sort of thing happens all the time in Orange County!
This got me to thinking about ATM’s and a quick Google of the subject reveals all sorts of great stories. Two were blown up in South Africa recently, while in North Texas the prefered method is smashing stolen cars through the windows of establishments that have ATM’s and then dragging the machine out using chains.
Who knew you could have so much fun with an ATM.
