Actress Angelina Jolie and actor Brad Pitt have generously decided to donate $1 million through their Jolie-Pitt foundation for the children affected by the war in Iraq to the Educational Partnership for Children of Conflict..

Half of the money will go towards the basic needs such as books and supplies to help send the Iraqi children to school. Aid will go to refugee children and to school rehabilitation projects. The other half will go to the children in the states that have lost a parent in the war or that has a parent that is stationed in Iraq now.

Joie, 33, who is expecting twins in August, has been involved in these types of organizations for a long time now and he is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Jolie was reported as saying in regards to her and Pitt’s donation, as quoted by People.com, that, “educational support programs for children of conflict are the best way to help them heal.”

The couple have three adoptive children now, Cambodian-born Maddox, six year old Pax from Vietnam, and three year old Ethiopian born Zahara. They also have their own biological daughter Shiloh who is 2 years old.

In December of 2007 Brad Pitt, who with Angelina Jolie owns a mansion in New Orleans’s French Quarters, pledged $5 million of his own money to help build new homes in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city.
