Leslie West was born in 1945 in New York City and he is an American rock guitarist, singer and songwriter. He was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2006.

Lesley West started on the guitar back in the sixties when he was a member of The Vagrants. He would be better remembered at a founder member of Mountain along with Felix Papalardi and longtime member drummer Corky Laing. In the seventies he spent a large part of his time with Mountain.

New York State of Mind was recorded at The Lone Star in 1994 while Leslie was on tour promoting about album of his, Dodgin’ The Dirt. Two tracks from that album have been included on this one, Whiskey Train and the Billy Joel cover New York State of Mind. Leslie and Billy Joey were good friends. In fact they grew up together on Long Island where the two played in several competing bands.

The first track on this album introduces Leslie West at the Lone Star as he starts off with Never In My Life. Other tracks on here include Theme For An Imaginary Western, 3rd Degree, Blood of The Sun, Voodoo Chile/Jam, Nantucket Sleighride and Mississippi Queen.
