23 year old Bryan Nicholas Garcia pleaded guilty but mentally ill to two counts of destruction of a graveyard after he was found attempting to dig up the body of a 12 year old girl. He admitted to having seen the girl’s picture in the local obituary and thought she was cute so he wanted to dig her up and “take her home and have fun.”
His defense lawyer, John Rhea, said that two psychiatric evaluations found that Garcia has a chemical imbalance in his head that makes him want to have sex with children and corpses. Circuit Judge John Hayes passed a sentence of 20 years in prison for Garcia and has ordered him to also register as a sex offender. Rhea said that Garcia has not yet decided if he is going to appeal his sentence.
When officers reported to the scene they did a search of Garcia’s car and found black plastic bag, shovels, a pickax and other digging tools and a three foot hole in the girl’s grave. Garcia admitted that he had been digging at the grave but was unable to find the girl’s body despite two attempts. He also told the family of the girl “I apologize to anyone I’ve hurt with my actions.”

Hey. Wanted to say that the little girl was my little girl. Some of the details listed in the article aren’t completely accurate. He is extremely dangerous and sick. Bryan had a detailed “diary”. Not about my daughter but about teenage girls at his school and what he wanted to do to them. I am grateful he never had the chance to hurt any of those girls. To be honest what he did made us feel helpless. Losing her all over again. Like we were watching her innocense being taken away. How dare he do that to her? We still go to the cemetary every night to be sure everything is ok. It never will be. And IF he did apologize as written in this article it was not to me, her daddy, her little brother or her older brother or anyone else that loved her.
Hunny, I am so sorry your family is going through all that you are. my heart and soul goes out to you, and to give justice to you and your baby girl. no mercy for such an evil soul as Garcia.
