Officials in India have come up with a great way to deal with their current elephant problem: implant microchips. The problem that officials and police are having is that elephants are causing problems such as traffic back ups in the chief financial district of Munbai. With microchips properly implanted in the elephants, police will be able to identify the owner and be able to tell which elephants are in the city illegally. They also cause problems for people who stand with them outside temples to solicit money, if a passerby doesn’t drop in any money the elephants are trained to scare them. Last month an elephant was also killed after a speeding truck ran into it.
