I think the reviewer missed the point of this CD if his "groove" was thrown off by the changing points of view the music is coming from. I've seen Colionne "live" and his show, which is killer, has jazz, blues, R&B and sometimes even a little rock in it...all the influences a contemporary jazz musician incorporates into music. What's wrong with putting it all in one place. Or are artists to make only jazz albums, R&B albums, blues albums, etc. and never the twain shall meet?? For my taste, it's refreshing to hear an artist who really feels what he plays and is authentic in doing so any day of the week.
