Dennis Farina, TV’s crime series “Law & Order” Joe Fontana has been busted! He was caught attempting to board a United Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Chicago carrying a loaded .22 caliber, semi-automatic pistol Sunday morning at the Los Angeles International Airport LAX.

Farina worked in Chicago as a police officer for nearly 20 years. You would think that someone that used to be a cop before would know better but he claims he had the gun in his briefcase on his drive from Arizona to Los Angeles and he simply forgot about it when going through airport security. He started his acting career in the 80’s starring in movies such as “Get Shorty” and “Sidewalks of New York” and the more recent film “What Happens in Vegas…”

“Farina was very apologetic and cooperative with officers,” police said. “However, he had no apparent authority to carry a concealed weapon at the time of his arrest.

The FBI reportedly interviewed Farina but decided not to prosecute and just let the local authorities handle it.

Originally Farina was booked on one misdemeanor count of carrying a loaded firearm and his bail was set for $25,000. The charges were later upgraded to a felony after police found that the gun was not registered and a new bail was set at $35,000.
