US President George Bush has joined his top diplomat in suggesting that the growing prosperity of India’s large middle class is contributing to rising food prices around the world
He said “So, for example, just as an interesting thought for you, there are 350 million people in India who are classified as middle class. That’s bigger than America. Their middle class is larger than our entire population.â€
What about the oil shortage? Who consumes more oil, 350 million of Indian middle class or 300 millions of American? Â I say that the world is facing shortage of oil because All Americans eats up huge amount of petroleum products. The same happens to be the reason for the rise of petro-prices.
What should the Indian middle class do? Should he give up the prosperity and return back to the fold of backward nations? Or should he look for statistics to find out how much food the prospering Indian Middle class gulp down in the form of Pepsis, Coca Colas  Mac Donalds.
These Indians drink, on average, nine servings of Coke products per year. Has George Bush forgotten that few years back there was an agitation in India in which it was alleged that the 68 Cola plants in India has caused a water shortage in many parts of India? In Varanasi, alone, Coke draws an estimated 158,503 gallons a day. In fact the Colas have a market of 300 millions of middle class Indian, incidentally equivalent to US population
And what about the expenditure of these middle class Indians who help US economy by buying Levis ,Reebock ,Adidas to name a few.
Indians have right to grow their food and give preference to their own country men instead of selling to countries busy in selling nuclear arsenals ,oil and other things.

an interesting follow-up in the timesofindia. check out http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/An_American_eats_5_times_more_than_an_Indian/articleshow/3008449.cms.
i dont agree with arun about forgiving bush. without seeming to be defensive, we should set perceptions right. americans need to open their eyes and know more about the world around them, than form conclusions based on misstatements by their leaders (intended or otherwise) or misguided missives from their media. or would you rather the next time an indian in san francisco apologize to his local neighbor for his countrymen eating too much?
I wonder if there is a site of various presedenial candidates of US presidency. If so I would like to post a question on these sites to find outwhat do they have to say abt this idiospeak.
It certainly is no point in asking the general public as they know nothing about the international affairs or can nt see beyond so called US.
Bush needs more burger for his 20 dogs where as starving Poor indians need only bones to eat
He is big time idiot, 99.999% makes wrong decision. He talks only baby talk.
It is a kinda’ cowboy economics..
Get a Life! Why do the Indians – leaders, press and common folks get hysterical, every time someone mentions them?
Hi Guys,
So Bush says that We Indian Middle-class eat too much, so much that we are responsible for rising food prices?. Let us listen to our BIG DADDY and may be try to fix.
May be we should start by banning coke and pepsi and their products in India. Also ban McDonalds, KFC etc. (We eat too much isnt it, Mr. Bush?)
Next stop using all American seeds in Agriculture (they are useless seeds anyway).
Next follow it up by banning all Foreign brands like Levis, Pepe, cosmetics etc. (We dont want to be responsible for increasing the prices of garments and cosmetics, Mr. Bush)
Next follow it up by banning the production and import of all American & Western Cars, Bikes etc (According to Mr. Bush, we are responsible for the oil price too!)
Next ban buying aircrafts, war planes, Ships etc from America. Anyway US gives us only those condemned by them.
Next ban anything and everything that we import from the US and Europe (We dont want to be blamed by Mr. Bush for increasing the prices of those you see!)
Next wait and see if that will bring some sense into Mr. Bush!
assalamu alaikum what nisaar nadiadwala has said as reply to bushs comment on indian middle class i think its absolutely right , i totaly agree with his view point and example that who consumes oil most we 350 million indian middle class or they 300 so called v.i.p. americans…. due to which india is suffering from fuel hike every now and then…. basheer
Hmmm, people iving in glasshouses mustn’t throw stones at others.. The whole world knows how much food the so-called upper class Americans waste every year.. the amount of food they waste, can feed thousands in the poor countries.. Hypocrisy thy name is America
well, awesome reply to bush’s immature statements. His speeches leave us speechless and makes us think “how can this man think that all the others are fools?” With trillions of dollars flowing in war and demolition, Bush should review his math and then point fingers on others. Well even if indians eat a lot, as the Hindi saying goes “Hum toe khaatey peetey ghar key hain!” LOL.
I THINK THE RISING OF OIL BECAUSE INTERVENT THE NOISE OF U.S TO SUBTITUTE IT’S LOOSE IN AFGHANASTAN , IRAQ AND OTHER PLACES LIKE SOMALIA . THAT HAPPEN BECAUSE THE MOST OF OIL COMPANIES ARE AMERICAN AND THE TAX WILL BE ALSO MORE FOR GOVERMENT OF AMERICA . WHAT BUSH SAID IS JUST A FAKE STORY .
WE KNOW THE MIDDLE CLASS PEOPLE IN INDIA HAVE BEEN BECOMING MORE BUT GRADUALLY AND THE OIL RISE JUST DURING THESE LAST MONTHS .
george bush, has mastered the art of trying to solve the world problem.
i think he need to start of by stopping the killing of innocent people.
shortage of food and rising prices are a secondary issue.
who gives this man authority to talk on economics.
cold blooded murderers and mobsters dont need to talk on economics and rising oil prices.
they need to be sent a home for mentally retard.
president Bush talks about oil prices rising why is he even bothered about India were doing very well thank you very much.
he says the oil prices are rising and ens up bombarding other countries for their oil.good stratergy eh.ill rob the oil by killing other countries and their people so as to maintain a reasonable price of oil around the world.
Dogs bark caravan stops not.Lets pray allah that all Indians think logicaly with all their wisdom and act and realise to accept the reality.
Unity is a virtue which charms people and many a time bothers the leaders. But it has the strenth to defeat the leader also.
Let them eat, the Americans, reach the ultimate levels of obesity and face the consequences. What have we got to lose?
Bush cannot be blamed for all his antics he’s just doing his duty being a part of the ‘illumaniti’ , to bring about their goal of ‘The new world order’ asian
contries are going to be the next target and the use of UN is a good way to accomplish it.
