The Stiletto appreciates that you recognize she is heartsick over the divisiveness that Wright's comments have not only caused, but are evidence of.

The thing is, Obama's public record is very thin compared to his rivals and there is no piece of legislation or speeches that predate his troubles with Rev. Jeremiah Wright that one can point to to "prove" he has not internalized and believes the racist garbage Wright has been shoveling onto him and his family for 20 years. Wright's teachings appear to have made an impression on his wife, Michelle, and that's worrisome enough in and of itself.

Along with Wright, Michelle Obama is another of the candidate's closest confidants. So if two of the people closest two him believe in the precepts of black separatist liberation theology, a reasonable person can believe that Obama is influenced to some degree as well. To what degree? Who knows?

Before Obama can heal the nation, he needs to heal the black community so that they can open their hearts to a post-racial future and leave the bitterness and resentment behind. Jesus Himself said, "Turn the other cheek." He did not say "by any means necessary."

As a black man, I respect Stiletto's -- and other Americans' -- right to not let Wright get away with things that we would not let a white person get away with.
I still, however, find the attempts to transfer Wright's wacky beliefs onto Obama by proxy to be disingenuous and disheartening.
What things have Obama done, said and voted for in his 25 years of public service that give any proof he endorses any significant piece of Wright's philosophies?
Thank you, and let's move on to issues we need to press ALL the candidates on to improve our wonderful country.

We can see that it made an impact on his wife who has never been proud of the U.S. and thinks this is a "mean" country. She is channelling Wright, quite obviously.

Rev. Wright is appalling. It is very obvious that this philosophy of his was not dreamed up overnight but thru his entire lifetime....Hence, Obama heard it for 20 years, was his friend and mentor, and we are supposed to believe none of this has made an impact on Obama or his wife or his children??How does a child learn to walk or talk??..Through repetition...Exactly what Obama, by choice chose to hear and associate himself and his family to. Constant repetition from Wright...We are not choosing or voting for someone to school us in black church tradition as Wright calls it. We are choosing someone to lead our Country forward and bring our soldiers home...Obama will never be President..The Wright legacy has doomed him and will follow him thru life...Lesson:...Choose your friends wisely...
