I am sorry about your son. In the Philippines, few "brain dead" donors are used because no body trust the system. Our nephew was shot (in the crossfire of a political killing by the NPA). In Chicago, where he lived for years, they would have used his organs to save people's lives...but here we said no, because we didn't trust the system. Paying for organs means everyone will lose trust in the medical system... As a doctor, I suspect she misunderstands the theory of brain death...but there needs to be a law that allows families to say no in Australia.
